What does this message from Ebay buyer mean?
« on: October 06, 2012, 09:09:02 AM »
There are no problems or anything but I have reread this message I got from a buyer over and over again and cannot make out what she is trying to say.

Here is the conversation.

Buyer: "you have a couple of things i would love to bid on. would you be willing to help me to find the most economical way to ship them all combined? please let me know, and thank you. - T"

Me: "Hi there. Yes I will be happy to find the cheapest way possible. Are you ok with me shipping them in an envelope? Thank you for your bids!"

Buyer: "sure, they are plastic and lightweight so that wouldn't be a problem at all. because the envelope would not be flat - it will have to be hand canceled anyway, that's thats perfect. thank you so much."

So, obviously it's the last message that has be bewildered. I know there's nothing really to respond to, but out of curiosity I was hoping someone would have an idea on what this person was trying to say.

First, I'm not sure how the item NOT being flat would be good but that's fine. It's everything after that makes no sense. Hand cancelled? Huh?  :what:

I think they mean that it won't be run through a mail sorter. :) Non-flat bubble wrap packages do not go through the same machinery as flat sorted mail; they're treated like parcels.

Hum....I'm thinking about it. I'm not sure what "hard concealed" could mean either.

Just to add another detail, this is a USA domestic transaction.

Bergamot - Ohhhh, I think I get what you guys are saying. Ok, that is stating to make sense. I think maybe the buyer just had a couple typos, lol.

It kinda seems like it might be an auto-correct fail or something along those lines ;)

Yeah, it threw me so off because her initial message was in fine English. I'm usually decent at deciphering what people are saying but couldn't get this one. Thanks for clearing it up :-)

Postage is "cancelled" with an ink stamp. I think that with flat items, a machine cancels the postage. Parcels and packets have their postage cancelled by a person with a stamp, as these items cannot be completely sorted and cancelled by machine.

"Hand cancelled" in this case means "not squashed by robots," I think. :)
