Winger manes 'n' tails
« on: September 29, 2012, 03:05:24 PM »
Hello!

I just won my very first Summer Wing pony off eBay a week ago.  Little Flitter is so cute!  Her mane and tail have faded (no big surprise, drat that pussycat pink), but I'm finding they feel a bit coarser somehow than regular pony hair.  Is this a normal thing?  I haven't yet put her through a full spa treatment - I had to de-tail to remove some tail rust - and maybe I'll find that once she's been conditioned and flat ironed, her hair will be silky smooth again... but for the now, I'm just wondering what everypony else's experiences have been. ^.^

Thanks!

Wishlist - I'm back on (semi-) active buying again... can't buy everything on my wish list all at once (yay, back-to-school and tuition fees), but I am still looking to plump up my collection a bit more: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,380638.0.html

They can get a little coarse and frizzy, but I use conditioner and a flat iron.  That seems to work for me:)
Please post pictures of Little Flitterwhen she's all finished!!!!!!

The hair on the wingers is the same hair they used on the other ponies, but because it's longer I think it ends up more prone to frizz.

The flat iron does work well though! :)

I guess I got lucky as my little wingers have really nice hair..no frizz or coarse to the touch, but since I have other ponies with those issues I think it must have something to do with what they were exposed to up to this point. My Lofty has that coarse hair and nothing has helped it.

Everyone beat me to it, but sometimes the poor girls do end up with messed up hair. I use lots of hot water and condition and most of my girls come around. Good luck with her dear. ^.^

I think they do have coarser hair, I've had 3 Cool Breezes like that in the past.

There was probably some kind of chemical used in production [prior to the production line] in order to get that factory curl we see - I sometimes suspect whatever was used may be responsible for this as ponies with that original curly hair, like wingers, seem to be prone to not just wilder hair but frizzy hair which sometimes looks damaged.

So I dont think its a different type of hair per se as much as a different treatment in production perhaps.

I agree, that sounds like the most logical explanation.
