I don't see how it could even be "ex-niss" since that would mean the "a" is completely left out.

In general, many people suck at spelling and pronounciation. So it isn't you, it's them lol.

It's like when people spell definitely as defiantly, and don't even bother to look at the word long enough for their brain to register that defiantly is a completely different sounding word with a different meaning.

OMG this bothers me so much. Also "definately". You see the 'e' before 'ly', so this would be pronounced 'def-in-ate-lee', instead of 'def-in-it-lee'. Drives me nutty.

Anyway, I have always pronounced the username as 'Zan-iss' as well. I wonder if maybe they thought the 'X' wasn't actually part of the word, like those really bizarre usernames that are like XxXRockHardStonerDudexXx or some such insanity.

I always thought saying it with a z sound was silly, I mean, it's not a z it's an x if you're gonna use a different letter might as well actually say it

I agree with Zan-iss as well.  I try my hardest to pronounce people's names/usernames correctly because my name has been butchered my entire life. lol

Oh I have no prob with Polish names myself, I'm used to it. But how many people know a "w" is pronounced as a "v" or an "rz" is pronnounced "s". Wroclaw = frotswaf? There is such a big difference between English pronunciation than Polish.

Hehe, actually, I´m in the same boat as you Xaniss. My WoW guild name is The House of Xan and all our mains have to have names starting with Xan, mine being Xanseth (and Xandría), and we often get people mispronouncing it. However, since in Cyrillic the letter X corresponds to H, many of my serbian family and friends tend to pronounce it as Hanseth which is of course completely silly, but I guess they can't help it

I concur with Zan-Iss, and the situation makes me smile. I have a similar problem with my name. A lot of people want to pronounce it May - Nee - Ah.. Like Maniac. But I pronounce it Muh Nye Uh.
