Ya know, I don't care what anyone sys; I love G3! It just has a certian... cuteness to it I like, and it leaves a lot of room for creative expansion. In my pony fanfics, I made G3 actually happen after G4 (I go in reverse generation order) and G4 Ponyville is G3 Ponyville in the past! I even explain stuff in my stories like Cherrilee going from unicorn to earth pony, Rainbow dash's changing accent, and the 3.5 ponies!

Still Ponyville, at least from a G3 standpoint, maybe that for earlier gens too but IDK.

G1 and G2 had Ponyland, G3, G3.5, and G4 have Ponyville. There were also other areas like Dream Valley, the Black Mountains (G1), Pony Village (in G2), Unicornia, Butterfly Island(G3), and others.

Ponyville was created for G3, and most of the G4 ponies share the names and sometimes colors of G3 ones (save AJ, of course)
