the average price of a collection
« on: September 16, 2012, 04:35:59 PM »
Gees so I was just having a little look at my g1 collection and I was shocked when I came to the conclusion that the average price of each pony must be about $30  Of course they all werent that price I have lots of really pricey ponies with very few being under $20  :lookround:

I love my g3 collection thou as they would only be about $3-4 each  :P

I haven't priced my entire collection in a loooooong time. Wish I had more that valued over $20 LOL!!
I haven't updated Klect for a good year... I'd have to say it's around $5,000 usd by now... I just wanna roll in them and throw them up in the air.... (Sorry, having a Scrooge McDuck moment....)

If you go by the Ponydex on average ponies are worth around $10
http://www.ponydex.com/statistics.php
looks like my collection sticks to that- works out to about $9.75per and I have just under 900 right now~

oh that looks like fun :  ) I will have to do that. I purposely set out to get all the htf/ expensive ones first so that the rest of my herd will be easy and affordable to obtain  ;)

I haven't priced my whole collection, but if you're into Nirvanas the value can go up insanely quickly. I've got 4 shelves of ponies on display, and they're probably worth $2k.

(I also have a "go bag" next to them - they were evacuated just last week, when we had that tornado scare.)

It's really varied!  Especially when you include G3, G3.5 and G4 because most of those are still around retail.

Nope...no way am adding it up and averaging it...I dont need any more grey hairs :P

I would think average per pony price could be all over the place - if someone has lots of rares it will up the average and if someone has lots of G3s it will reduce it!

Average? That would be an interesting way to look at it. I best mine would be around $15 because half the herd is G3, 1/4 expensive Nirvanas and 1/4 US or UK release.

The average price of my collection would be insane, as although i used to have a lot of common ponies, i have sold a lot of them and the majority of my collection is uk exclusives and rare nirvanas eep!!

I really don't want to know either what my price is. I know I spent alot on ponies enough as it is. Ignorance is bliss. :)

Hmm I'm guessing my collection is probably worth just under 100 GBP mainly since most of my ponies are common and I have a lot of G3s

Well, we haven't had much to add in a while, and a complaint that had come in was about values. Values are a hard thing to keep current on (especially as you have 1000's of items to keep up on).
So, some new features are on their way for our users (or new users). The first one this year will be where our users can provide their own input on values by a vote of +/-. that makes an incremental change and users can enter for each item every 24 hours. This way, if you look at a pony that says it is worth $10 and you know it is worth less, then "-" the price. It will go down a few cents then and you can do it again the next day. As more users make their own inputs, values will find their proper average. We are working to pull sales data to make automatic adjustments as an input too. Hope this helps users control this data without having to enter it. Thank you all.

Of the 20 ponies I have prominently displayed in my room alone, there's probably $5350+ worth of plastic. This isn't counting the other ponies fighting for display space in my room, the hallway display, livingroom shelves, or the ponies I have boxed up. :drunk:
