I love them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I have Gerbils and they look just same when they are little  And that is HUG litter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A gerbil is a small desert rodent.  I raised them when I was a teenager.  They grow up to be smaller than rats.  They are not as cuddly as rats, but they are fun to watch.  They are burrowing animals and are always trying to dig holes, even if there's no dirt to dig into.  Their little front paws just fly into blurs as they try to dig into the corners of their cages, lol.  They also like to stomp their back feet.

Gerbils are illegal to have in CA because they thrive in that climate and can become an infestation fast.

Aww they are adorable!
I live in Australia, and it's illegal to import rodents into the country unless by scientific organisations for research purposes. Even then it's a struggle to get them in. These security measures are in place to help protect Australia's native species, although rats and mice are already an introduced pest importation is still banned. So we don't have gerbils, hampsters, gambians, pygmy hedgehogs, etc.
But it does mean our domesticated rat population is isolated and due to this we have some pretty funky unique mutations, such as velour and silk coats <3
I adore my ratties, they are such characters!

Your ratties are so cute!

I kept ratties for a long time, but haven't had any for years now. I miss having ratties around, I might adopt some next year after we (hopefully) move into a house.

Omg so precious! You're making me miss rats, I've had 9 in the past but ever since I got my dog rats have been an absolute impossibility. My dog is a Miniature Fox Terrier, aka. Small Animal Murderer!
I've also always wanted a ferret but they're illegal in QLD, rabbits I understand being illegal but not being allowed ferrets just makes me pout
