Music suggestions?
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:39:24 PM »
Hi all! I'm always looking for music suggestions, and would love to know of any bands/artists/producers y'all think I should check out. I'm mostly in to electronic (largely Moombahton, techno, ambient and house), rock bands similar to Kyuss or Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, and "indie"-sounding bands similar to Seabear. I am open to pretty much any genre of music, but I have a hard time liking country, rap, R&B or hip-hop, and a lot of more "pop" music.
If you can think of any bands I might like, feel free to suggest! And if you're on the look out for new music, post what you're in to and maybe others can suggest bands for you as well. c:

Humm..

Ive been out of the loop with music lately and im not sure if you would be into things like 12 stone, rise against, shinedown.

Ive been listening to alot of gaming music lately, as well as Enya if that helps?  You would be surprised what catches your ear in a game :)

Your music taste is pretty opposite of mine, and I'm pretty old and set in my ways.  I'm open to new stuff though - if it sounds good, I'll listen to it.  I'm a metal, punk, indie, and (non-commercial) hip hop fanatic, but I love my rock from the 70's and 80's new wave.  Ever checked out a lot of 80's new wave?  It might satiate some of your cravings with all its delicious synth.  Check out an old Yaz(oo) or Talk Talk album, or some of the more rock-influenced stuff like Missing Persons.

I have a couple Rise Against songs in my iTunes, I will have to look them up on Spotify or something and listen to them more in depth. :) I'll listen to the others too. Thanks, Melody'_angel!

And, I like some metal, Eviecorn, what metal bands would you recommend?  I also remember my brother used to listened to Talk Talk, I'll have to give them a listen. :)

A metal band that I've gotten into recently is Kvelertak, which is pretty melodic for Scandinavian metal.  It's dark but you can also groove to it.

Godsmack, CCR,  Godsmack, GNR,  Godsmack, A little old-school Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Godsmack,  Shinedown, Queen,  Korn, Rage, ummmm, Godsmack, Rob Zombie, .... but then again, Godsmack is awesome!

But no, really, I do like them, and Sully Erna's solo album, Avalon. It is softer and calming.

Then again, for Indie, I dig Beats Antique ( awesome, produced by the band, check I tunes and amazon!)- Balkan sound with a belly dancer in mind. Also Bassnectar, Jill Tracy ( Dark Jazz), Man Man      ( awesomely quirky), Pentaphobe ( dance again) ... Hmm, I have danced to all of those! haha!!

Huh, checking my Itunes, I have from hard metal all the way to Celtic, show tunes, and Reniassance music!! The closest to pop I get is Pink, so not throw fakies at me, please!!!

I'm porbably of no help, becuase the various Phantom recordings have been dominating my iPod  as of late. I love new suggestions, as well, though, so I'll be stalking this thread!

If you like Kyuss you might try Pelican, the Melvins, High on Fire.. I'd also check out Cynic, Katatonia, and Ghost while you're at it.

There is a band called Akcent that I like. Few others are Inna, BWO, Marina And The Diamonds, Dan Balan and Avicii to name a few.
