ohh I love the bug pics, I can get dragon flies to sit on my hand all the time and sometimes they fall asleep too. At work i pick up the wasps and take them outside and feed them soda.

I am so happy that other people like invertebrates-  I love that giant Goat Moth caterpillar- that "some kind of moth" the tarantulas- the teeny tiny snails- is that a banana slug I see there? I don't love those guys- they are all over the place in Seattle, and they eat my rose tree all up.   I also don't love wolf spiders- they are so big and scary. 

I would love one of those giant snails for a pet

I saw this guy in the Amazon Basin in Ecuador a few years ago- no idea what he was.  It is too bad I took such a blurry photo

  There were a lot of tarantulas there-  One fell off the ceiling at the little eco lodge we were staying at- gave everyone a heart attack.  I think he broke his leg, poor guy.  Sorry my pic of him is so bad- it was pretty dark out and I am not good at photography.

Here is my favorite bug of all time.  A thorny stick that I found in Thailand- she was about as long as my hand- but I looked her up and apparently she will get bigger and develop pretty tiny little pink wings-  I wanted to take her home SO BAD (although customs was a concern- I was more worried that if someone found her they would take her out of my bag and squish her

 This spider was really big, the size of my hand, and it was in our classroom. Unfortunately, I only had my phone to snap a photo.

I don't have a picture but when  I was younger, I found a pair of Pandorus Sphinx caterpillars!  They are very soft, smooth caterpillar will really cute little feet!  I had never seen anything like them, and haven't seen any since.  I set them free so that they could do their caterpillary things! They were very gentle and fun to handle.  Wish you could keep em as long term pets.

Today I saw the biggest caterpillar I've ever seen in Sweden before. I think it was 8-9 cm long and it was really fat. When I poked at it it with a pinecone it tried to spit something at me.

Feel free post bugs that you have photographed. I'll post some more of my bug pics later. I actually think most bugs are creepy, but still they're interesting and fun to watch and photograph.

THAT is a saddleback caterpillar! Don't touch it or it will sting the crap out of you!!! My neighbor had a bunch of them on her hedge and no one realized it. When me and her granddaughter had a race that ended with us jumping over the edge, we both fell into the hedge (we were little and couldn't actually jump as high as we apparently thought) and ended up horribly stung.
