Firefly
« on: September 10, 2012, 08:12:39 AM »
I found out about the Gen 1 Firefly and was just curious about the worth of her. I'm not a fan of the gen 1 ponies in general but her name fits so well for customs I wanted to make for my fiance's favorite show, Firefly. Like I said though, don't want to ruin a sought after pony by customizing her. Any info would be appreciated.

The US and UK release of Firefly is not rare and is actually quite common. I'm not crazy about customizing G1 ponies, but as long as she says hong kong under her hoof, it's a common pony.

What condition is the pony you are planning on customizing?

Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.

Maybe a silly question but if you don't like G1 ponies why not just customize a G4 pony and call it Firefly?

There were two versions in the US- the first one has a front leg bent and raised off the ground and is the most common.  However there is actually a variation of this pony with long, curly hair that, in my experience, is harder to find.  But I have seen both of these in nice shape sell for $10 or less.

The second version of Firefly, called "movie Firefly" has dark blue hair and is in a different pose- she has one front leg slightly bent.  Not sure of a price on this one, but I'd say more than $10 for sure.

Sorry I don't have any pics to share, but I hope that at least helped.

Awesome. I'm not either, but with the name, I just have to, you know what I mean? It's too perfect.

I don't have any yet, but I would prefer bait quality for price reasons. I do have an idea floating around that requires the cutie marks, but we will see.

I just like the idea of Firefly 'Firefly' customs. It wouldn't be the same with a pony not named Firefly.

Thanks ^^ I am planning on the first version, but since there will be rehairing, the curly or straight hair doesn't matter much to me.

Thanks. There will be 10 total to make, if I counted correctly.

If you are looking for a baity Firefly you shouldnt pay any more than standard G1 bait prices of around $2-3. Nice regular Firefly in the "taking off" pose, the short hair version is around $8-10 at the moment although if her glitter is lovely she can creep higher.

It's nice to know I picked a cheap pony to gather a small army of.

Wow, ten? :/ Please make sure they really are 'bait' material first. G1s aren't the most common things. :)

Give the Bair Reference Guide a look if you are planning to use "bait" ponies:
