I have heard some horror stories about restringing! I admire anyone who is brave enough to attempt it

Thankfully none of my girls have required any restringing yet - the most I have done is put new eyelashes on Zoe!

My worst stringing story is from when I started taking off the head on my BBB Ariel (with the intention to replace the elastic, since the default ones are terrible) and the esastic snapped and her body parts flew across the room!  Followed closely by when the ankle hook snapped on my Iplehouse Chase.  At least they're both cute enough to make up for the frustrations!

My new darling that arrived yesterday needs restringing SO badly. She's the floppiest doll in the world I swear, haha.

Yup, I plan to blush her paws at some point. Probably not for a little while though. And I like her long lashes, but they got smooshed in transit, so I'll probably replace them with some shorter ones that are less prone to damage.

She looks adorable!   I have freckles and remember when that wasn't suppose to be a good thing.  So it's always fun to see dolls with them. <3

I have tried to put new lashes in a couple of my girls, but it never goes as planned.  I'll try again at some point, but I gave up after ruining a couple pairs of lashes, lol.

Restringing is always such a chore too!  I think my worst had to have been either my Soom Teschen (the string he came with wasn't long enough, so I couldn't even get his head on...had to get new elastic and figure out how to string those rabbit feet, lol.)  or my Soony.  Soony and that dang neck donut...I left her laying on the bed for a couple of hours, sans head, just because she was getting on my nerves and I had to put her down before I chunked her across the room.

Re-stringing? Is this some sort of weird dolly bondage or is it how the dolls are held together? And do retailers expect you to do it yourself? (please excuse the silly questions, I wouldn't know a dolly elastic if it hit me in the face. Unless it was followed by various doll limbs and colourful language...)

The dolls are strung with elastic and sometimes they need to be restrung, usually if the elastic is stretched out or old or just too loose.

And some dolls come in kits (or second-hand sellers will ship unstrung to save on shipping), so then it's the first thing you do.

These dolls are all so beautiful! I love looking through this thread and seeing the various dolls, outfits, names etc. It makes me that much more excited about getting mine. The time can't go fast enough
