I missed the g1 era by a long shot, but I love carded toys! For some reason, I was always obsessed with how they got the bubble to be the same shape as the toy when I was a kid. Even now, seeing pictures of MOC g1s, I always wished they'd go back to that style of packaging.

And I think the metallic tinsel is easier to deal with than the clear plastic-y stuff they currently use, right? Because that stuff is a pain in the butt to style!

That is neat they changed the packing, though Zecora our only G4 was beyond easy to get out of the box, especially compared to a G3.  Now those took a lot of work to get out of the box.

Sad to not be seeing the translucent glitter body that was floating around.  Now those I would have brought.

Regarding comments on the fact the packaging is cheaper, it might not actually be. Its more expensive typically to create a seperate mold for packaging, but they could be creating it by a different process. But maybe the reduction of packaging makes up for the mold cost. ;p

But then again the only "new" ponies we have seen in this size are the main 6 in this block eye, tinsel style so perhaps it is going to be wave 9 *depressed by the thought*

Thats a great point! I forgot about that Ploomette Lets hope she is getting a release as she is certainly in keeping with the style of this line.

Mememememeemeeee!   I heartily welcome any new brushables. Hasbro seems to be focusing a lot of effort into making a variety of blind bags, and if those new transparent blind bags are any indication of what is to come with the Crystal Empire ponies, I would love to see any of those new characters made into brushables.

By the way, I have that Fluttershy already. I bought her loose off UK eBay. I thought her tinsel-in-hair-only was a flaw.

Ah, so many new sets. None of which I will actually see due to Hasbro's insane distribution basically feeding eBay instead. Wheeeeeee.

I like it... reminds me of G1. 

However I do think they should have included a little speech bubble SOMEWHERE noting, "Enviro-friendly packaging!" so that consumers are informed as to why the changes in packaging have been made.

I like the new packaging, however, as someone who works stock I know that they wont stay together without some monster glue holding that bubble on. So sick of receiving items for stock that have already fallen out of their packaging before arriving at the store! Also storing them will be a pain given their non-box shape. It's nice to see Hasbro becoming more eco-friendly, but I'm sure there was a better solution than this. =/

As a marketing strategy - you can bet there has been at least a press release on it somewhere or will be and yes a sticker claiming something along those lines seems like the kind of thing most companies would do.

I remember when Hasbro put on that press release about how they'd be using more eco-friendly packaging. I love that this is the end result AND it's similiar to the G1 era and so many other toys..  Great job Hasbro.
