I imagine the "Demon" part of the name came from a loose translation of "magical entity". For example, in Japanese the word "kami" can be loosely translated as "a god" or "a spiritual creature" or "ghost" or sometimes "demon". There are specific words for some of these entities as well, but "Kami" is a very general term. As far as my experience with Asian languages goes, these kinds of synonyms can also be very true for Cantonese/Mandarin. So I can honestly see how a bad English translation of "Magical Equine" became "Demon Donkey". But "Fun Neddy Lovely"? Don't ask me about that one! LOL
I'm just imagining a small child hollering at the top of its lungs, "I wanna Demon Donkey!"Oh my... laughing so hard I've got tears... thank you for posting that! Hee hee hee...
"my demon donkey, my demon donkey... aaaAAAAAAAAH!"
