Where did you get Lavender Woosie?
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:50:39 PM »
Ok, forgive me if this was posted before, but it's something that has been bothering me for a while. Many people seem to believe that the lavender Woosie was a European exclusive or something. But it's not! I got mine for my 10th birthday here in the USA! I was living in Harvey, Louisiana and my mom just got it from a local store. I remember when I opened it, I was a little disappointed because mine was lavender and not aqua like the one pictured on the box. I had a thing for aqua ponies at the time. So I'm wondering if this was possibly more of a factory error or something rather than a Euro exclusive. So tell me, those of you who had the lavender one as a kid, where did it come from? Where did you live at the time?

IDK, but I'm bumping this because it sounds like you really want an answer!
(I've been there. Nobody believed me when I said they had aired the Holiday at Aupulco episode of Pokémon when we were kids, and they were all wrong! HAHAHAHAHA!)
I'll put something here some time

She's definitely not a Euro exclusive, except being used for "parts" for "Princess Woosie" the princess variant.

But the "normal" one was from the US.  I got mine at a Value Village in the US.

I haven't heard of Value Village? What state was that in? I wonder if it could have been a regional thing.

I just got one from an ordinary American Ebay lot. I actually thought it was odd that a non-collector would have one here until I saw this.

EDIT:  That reminds me; I have a question about lavender Woosie:  Is her mane supposed to be curly?  (I know her tail is, since all Happy Tails are.)

Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

I was always under the impression that she was a US release but for some reason there were lavender versions as well as aqua; maybe due to a factory error, though there were quite a lot for this to be an error, or maybe like with the princess variants they were using up parts and had some lavender coloured stuff left so made some that colour?? Any more speculation or better yet someone who knows cos this is really interesting ? :)

I had her MIB and she had a US price ticket on her - I have always been under the impression she was a US pony not a Euro release. I cant say I have seen any proof of her being out this side of the Atlantic in the past on regular release. The Happy Tails over here were end of the line stock - i.e. in clearance stores - or were the Happy Tails oddballs which consist of "broken down" HTs. Happy Tails are not seen in any UK/Euro marketing materials or HB catalogues for the time period so I am fairly certain the whole set was a US concept. However "why" a random Lavender version of Woosie exists at all - lol - who knows HB having fun with us no doubt :P

Lavender Woosie is a U.S. release: http://www.kimsites.net/dreamvalley/6th_edition_ponies.html#happy_tails_ponies

But Princess Woosie, of course, just with other princess variants, is European.

Ooo, hey Cat, did you see my question in my post? Do you remember if your MIB lav Woosie had a curly or straight mane?

I got mine about 10 years ago secondhand in the US.  Mine has straight hair, but it is also dry so I don't know if it was originally curly ;)

I ll check an old pic...back in a second

Edit: Unfortunately the picture is from ages ago so its tiny camera phone quality - I traded her after I got her loose and complete. Her hair is wrapped around her neck with the plastic wrap its a pretty tight grip so I dont think there would have been much of a natural curl to it when released - therefore I think straight as with my regular MIB Woosie.

I've always thought that lavender Woosie was a US exclusive/variant (with the exception of her turning up as part of the UK spare-parts princesses). I'm not sure when or how the rumor of her being European started.

This is what dream valley says:
Quote
There is also another version of Woosie who was not sold in the U.S. Her body is lavender, and her eyes and mice symbol are dark pink, but her hair is still yellow and her tail ring is still pink.

Notice is says NOT sold in the US. (I told Kim about this 10 years ago, but no one seemed to believe me back then)

Oh, and mine had a mane that was semi-curly. It seemed to have more curl to it than most straight hair ponies, but not as curly as curly haired ponies, a failed curling attempt maybe? Maybe that lot of hair just didn't want to curl right.
