Should I buy a Monster High Doll?
« on: August 10, 2012, 08:04:27 PM »
I'm 14 and I collect MLP, but lately those cute little monster high dolls have been catching my eye, especially that "Robecca Steam" one. :satisfied: How expensive are they?

I'm going to get so much flack from my dad about this.

They're about $20 for a signature release like Robecca.
They're a lot of fun, I was addicted to them once I started posing them!

Instead of collecting I bought one and I make clothes for her and style her and stuff. I didn't really want one and I never really watch the show, but that nagging 'want you, you are cool' feeling didn't leave me til I bought one lol.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

They are around $14 for one without a stand and less accessories, $20 for the signature releases, and $25 for more special ones, like Ghouls Rule and Sweet 1600. I think you should get one - they are a lot of fun! I enjoy photographing them, but I also draw them, sew clothes for them, and talk about my collection. Robecca would be a great choice for your 1st doll, since she's your favorite.
I took a break from the Arena from a couple months due to school and other things in my life. But I'm back now!

It really depends.

If you really like them, I say yes! Go for it.

But I should warn you. You don't just buy 'A' Monster High doll.. you end up with many! They are addictive, stressful, and AMAZING. They can be very tiresome to track down, and if you don't buy them in stores, they can be VERY expensive online. But if you are casual about it and wait for the right Monster to pop up on the shelves in store, then go for it!

I love my Monsters, but at 20 bucks a pop they can get really costly. I have 8 so far. Robecca can be hard to find. I've seen a couple locally. Hopefully you can find her! She's lovely!

Monster High is as addicting as My Little Pony. Once you feel one in your hands for the first time, you never forget that feeling. It's different than holding any other doll in my opinion.

So far I have Robecca, Spectra, Venus, Frankie, Rochelle, Lagoona, Ghoulia, Clawdeen, Abbey.

I said I was only going to get Lagoona.... lol

This.

I don't like dolls. At all. But looking at Tuneys pics here on the Arena...well, somehow SS B&W Frankie made it into my shopping basket one day, and a few months and 15 dolls later...yep, they are addictive.

Yes, as people have said, they are addictive. I bought my first this past Wednesday, and in less than 48 hours, I already had a second one.

So...if you really want one, I say get one. But just be prepared to want more lol.

When I first saw these dolls on the shelf in March, I thought "Why would people like these things?" Do people actually buy these, even though it's the same doll with different clothes on? [I think there were like three different Frankies in the store that day or something]

When I finally broke down and bought a doll, it was actually two - Spectra and Cupid. SS Frankie found a home here shortly after, and it has been a downhill spiral ever since..... :)

You can never buy just one. If you have your own money, I'd say yes. If your parents are paying I'd probably warn them first :D

The question isn't yes or no; it's "Which one do I buy first?" Muahahahaha!

Here are some of my personal favorites/recommendations:
