Is there a Baby Paws varient?
« on: August 10, 2012, 07:05:14 PM »
I've got a question for you G1 collectors.  I've found myself with a second baby Paws after a lucky thrift store find.  The new one has bangs, but the other one doesn't.  At first, I assumed that he had a hair cut, but it looks factory, just like the other ponies I have with bangs, and non of the other ponies I found had hair cuts or trims that I can tell.

I was trying to do a PC on him, and when I checked out ebay, it looks like half of them have the exact same bangs.  Can anyone tell me anything about this?  Are there a bunch with trims, or was there 2 versions?  Are either of them harder to find, and can anyone give me a price check (I'll be selling the double).

Thanks!

I actually just noticed the same thing about my baby brothers- some have forelocks and some do not.  I'd be curious to know what people have to say too :)  If it helps, I have a mib Baby Paws and he has a forelock, so it must be a factory variation :)

my original baby paws has a forelock too.. and then my one i found in an ebay lot had none.. i just think it depends on the factory.
I was talking about this last night with a friend from here.. the sweetberry ponies and candy cane ponies.. some had forelocks and some didn't. just depends on what factory they were made in I guess?

Years 6 and Year 7 were confusing years for production :) Its during this time that HB move a lot of production from HK to China and its also the year when they were producing so many lines for different subs that they used cross over factories [even out to Taiwan remember]. However the forelocks are not as obvious as a China/HK thing they really are random over a handful of the sets - some factories or some runs obviously produced with a forelock and some didnt.

That's super interesting!  :whoa: I had no idea that forelocks could be variable on the same pony. For interest's sake, my Baby Whirly Twirl and Baby Ribbs have forelocks, but my Baby Countdown doesn't.
