My first custom pony - in progress
« on: August 10, 2012, 12:13:53 PM »
I was finally able to work on my ponies. This is my first custom pony, she's still a work in progress. She doesn't have hair yet  :P

I'm still considering if I should paint another sakura branch on the other side, maybe on her front leg... any suggestions?

Here she is, the pic isn't the best, sorry about that. When I finsh her I'll post another one.

Personally I like her the way she is.  I understand balance is important but in a situation like this a full tree would make her too heavy in the front but only a branch or two would seem kind of floating in the front legs.  I vote to stick to the flank.  The tree looks so delicate. :) You are doing a lovely job. It's hard to see the eyes, but it would be kind of cool if you could find a way to make them pop.  Maybe use a blossom instead of the standard shimmer or I dunno just something to draw the eyes towards the head without adding another branch.  I can't wait to see this one!
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

I'm a fan of symbols on both sides - probably because I grew up with the G1s, so it's what I'm used to. I see what Sarahlacewing is saying too though, but at the same time, look at TAF symbols. If a full tree would be too much, and floating branches wouldn't make sense, maybe you could make some blossoms blowing in the wind - they could blow from the tree, wrap around the chest, and continue on to her other side. Not too many, just scatter them in that sort of pattern, if you want her to seem more complete without being too complicated or 'heavy' in the way of symbols. Or maybe up over her back and onto the other side instead. She's looking very good though! Nice painting on that symbol especially :3

Def. like the idea of making the blossoms look like they are being blown by the breeze toward the neck and head area, that way you have more but not too much, if that is what your going for..Very lovely on what you have done so far looking forward to seeing her when she is finished :D..

Oh my, thank you Sarahlacewing, blackestbird and Jenn77 for all your suggestions, honestly  It really means a lot to me  :)

Yes I think symbols on both sides might be too much but I like that idea of the "blowing flowers". Has for the eyes, I'm not sure if I'll be able to do a flower on them they're so small  ;), but I can paint a small flower under one of them...

Thank you so much for your comments

I couldn't paint the flying petals like suggested, they didn't turn out that good :( so I had to erase them. It was a shame... Maybe it was just my lack of experience. I did paint a small branch on her left front leg (i'll show it when I take another photo).

Oh and by the way, the hair came from your store, lisey_baby,  that is mylittlecustoms. Thank youuuu!

She looks beautiful! Wow first custom, a great job!
I would hairstyle her with curls or an asian hairstyle if you want to keep her oriental  :)

Thank you so much Izrabeth  I was thinking about the oriental hairstyle, I'll have to try to see if what I have in mind actually looks good  ^.^
