WIP Spiderpony, webbing suggestions?
« on: August 09, 2012, 12:16:42 AM »
Ok, here is the Spiderman pony I'm working on for my niece. The piantwork is almost complete except for the black lines on the red parts of the costume that look like spiderweb. I am totally OCD about having my lines straight and even and I haven't got the first clue how to do that on a pony. Obviously, it's not like a piece of paper where I can just use a ruler. I"m thinking I'm just going to have to wing it and do it free hand like I have the rest of it so far, but if any one has any bright ideas, I'm open to them.

Mask it off with painter's tape. Do just a few lines at a time, start with all the 'latitude' lines and then do the 'longitude.'

lovely job, you can buy really thin line tape that might work?

Thanks! I actually did think of tape and scotch tape definitely wasn't working out, but I think you're right, masking tape is made for that sort of thing and I may have better luck with that.

You could also try using a piece of string instead of a brush (practice first watch for smearing you need steady hands) soak the middle of the string in paint so you still have ends to hold on to, then touch it to the area you want a line on.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

You know that thought crossed my mind, too. I think I'll have to do some experimenting.
