Dreadlock Ponies?

Ok I want to make a G4 custom of my character Muertos *poke avie*, but I have no idea how to make dreadlocks for ponies. :c Suggestions?

I looked into this before, and got no real answer. I did get a link to how to make them for a person. This is not the same link, but it uses the same steps. http://haircrazy.info/extensions/how-to-make-synthetic-dreads/

If it were me making them, I would make them first, then rehair the pony with them since they seem to leave such tapered ends. If you rehaired the pony, then made the dreads, you would risk damaging the pony in the process, it would seem.

I have actually seen yarn in my craft stores that look a lot like dreads! I made a mental note of them for if I ever wanted to make a dread pony ;D Do you have any craft stores like Jo-Anns or Michael's anywhere near you? If so I would definitely go check out their yarn selection!

I made a G4 brushable with over 400 plugs and braided his hair to give the dreadlock effect, alternating the colors of hair in the braids...but I don't suggest it. The custom took like a full business week to hair and braid because I had to hold the tiny body with my knees while I braided. ;

This one isn't finished yet, it will be much bigger and have proper dread accessories such as beads etc. in it.
