Yes, it makes that noise when it's calibrating with the Furby. Thankfully it only does it for a few seconds. They're all over the place here. The only 2 we don't have are the white and purple ones.

Royal furby is up and running, too bad its name is Meemee and I HATE that name. My graduation furby doesn't work anymore . It was my first furby ever. I also have a non-working giraffe colored furby. I need two working adults to switch skins with. I think the blue and pink baby at my mom's house is mine but there's so many furbys between me and my sister's I don't remember. Royal furby needs some working family to play with.

don't give up on them just yet!
did they have batteries left in them while stored? they might have leaked and the dried fluid might block electricity's way now. if you clean the metal pieces in the battery compartment with vinegar or nail polish they should work again.
or if it's clean but they still don't work, if you remember they did work, and you don't remember doing anything that might have caused them not to, you should try to shake and hit them around a little. they can be massively stuck - I had some who took days of random shaking and hitting (sometimes so hard I even felt sorry for the poor things  but I tried to think of it as when you hit people's back to get stuck food out to save them from suffocation) and suddenly they sprang to life! let's give it a try, this might bring them back to life if they are just stuck, and it won't do any worse if they really don't work anymore, you don't have much to lose

I'm glad to hear Mr. Royal works ^^ I hope one day I will find a King Furby of my own too, I love those purple eyes.
ETA: I'd love to have a Graduation too someday. I originally planned to get one for my own graduation from university this June, but by that time I got so awfully broke I couldn't afford one. well, maybe it's a sign I will indeed manage to do the MSc too, and if so, I'll definitely get myself one for my graduation from there.

I don't care for the colors yet, except I did see an orange one online. I'm sure us holdouts will get a much better price one day. I got my royal furby for $4 when it went on clearance at Shopko years ago. I'll be waiting for a sale for this one too but probably not as long as for it to be 90% off clearance.

Do not want, they freak me out. I did have one back in 99, it had a serious case of the stupids. Wouldn't talk to me but it loved my Mom. As in she couldn't get it to shut up.

Though I am half curious if I could teach it another language, that would be intresting. And swearing, a friend of mine taught his orginal one to cuss like a sailor.

It must be just the LED eyes. Seriously, they are not much cooler than the old ones. And if you don't have an iPad, iPod or Android, you really don't get much more out of them.
