Saddle Sore or Sunfade? (+pics!)
« on: July 28, 2012, 05:50:12 PM »
My friend and I found FS Luna (from the two-pack) at the flea market today and she's a bit... off with her coloring.  I can't tell if it's saddle sores or sunfading.  Most of her body is bluish-purple, but some parts are reddish-purple, the wings especially.  Which one is her real color?  I've tried looking up pictures, but that's not helping me much.

I don't have pics of her at the moment; the lighting isn't very good around here...

Its a little tough to tell without pictures unfortunately - colour can be a little perspective so what you may call red-purple someone else may call purple. I would say wait until you get light for pics and then maybe people will be able to tell - do you have any other G4s like Twilight Sparkle or Cupcake? You could take pictures of her beside those so people can compare.

Saddle sores are the result of one plastic staining into another plastic - if the different colour is over a large area its more likely generation discolouration/fade in the plastic than saddle sours.

The Luna we found is the center one.  She's kind of bluish compared to the single on the left.  Twilight Sparkle is there for comparison.

Close-up of the back.  You can just barely make out the color differences here.

Someone should totally answer this... or if you don't know, just say "sell" or "customize."

Looks like she faded to me. the wings apparently didn't because of the laquer over her wings, but this is just my thoughts, I could be wrong. I still think she is beautiful though, I love the blue tint to her!

I hope you don't bait her, if you do, note me, maybe we can do a trade or something.

Awesome, thanks so much for the answer!  I'm not sure what I'll do with her yet, but I'll certainly keep your offer in mind. :)

Different plastics, different batches, different finishes reacting differently to the sun or conditions...it doesnt look like anything more than that to me either. :)
