I have a question: How do I fix this pony playset problem?
« on: July 25, 2012, 08:00:22 PM »
Okay so I have the Petite UK version of the carousel.  I can't get the bows to stay on. I push them on and they pop off. None of them stay on well.  I don't want to use superglue. Does anyone have an idea on how I can get them to stay on without damaging the set? Tape doesn't work by the way.  Help would be appreciated. The plastic bows go on the top of the carousel...on those yellow knobs.

Stick the little parts in a hot car and let them warm up and maybe then they will cool to size when you pop them on?

Weirdly I think I might have seen someone else have the same issues on this at some point but I could be remembering a different playset.

As LBS suggests if you dont want the permanent fix of glue, your best bet is to see if you can soften the plastic enough to get the hole on the bows to be flexible enough that you can pop them over the pins on the carousel to get into position and hope that as the plastic cools they stay in place. Your only other semi-permanent solution is something like a little "blue tac" [I think you guys call that Removable Adhesive Putty] in each bow and then connect it to the pin - hopefully that will be enough to hold it in place but as long as you dont leave it there permanently will still be removable in the future.

How about Ticky Tack, ya know that stuff that looks kinda like silly putty.

I use that stuff around the holidays to keep little knick-knacks in place.  I have never had it stain or do anything weird to plastic stuff so it might be worth a try.

Is that the US equivalent of our "blue tack" do you think?

The next thing I'd suggest is to modify the backs of the bows by sanding them out a bit. I'd be worried that if you heat them up to stick them on then as they cool they will snap due to stresses in the plastic.
