*giggle* An alligator with a horn? Ali-corn I like it![should be noted I was sitting staring at the computer trying to link the "horn" with crocodile for about 5 mins before I understood...having a slow day!]

I have no idea, and I've been wondering the same thing! I call them pegacorns or winged unicorns usually. I think alicorn came about during the g4 craze, but I'm not sure.

No, you silly people! An alicorn is corn that fights in the boxing ring...
Time for minds to be blown...as a kid, I used call "alicorns" Changelings because when I played games, they could change between them, revealing their full "alicorn" form in a moment of crisis (the rest of the time might look like regular pegs or unis, although they could go about in their true form too). YOUR MIND IS NOW BLOWN.
See for me Alicorn sounds awful. I associate "Ali" with the name Al and specifically male names that Al is short for. Therefore it just sounds wrong to me. Like it is the name of some big burly guy like on Tool Time, or a big scary vicious dog, or something of the night, or some kind of dark creature instead of the creature of light that a unicorn/Pegasus is usually.
Unipeg and Pegacorn sound silly to me, they only seem to fit with fakies and old-gen customs with a horn and wings. I like the idea I read earlier in the thread where Unipegs are Unicorns with wings, Pegacorns and pegasi with horns, and ALicorns are ponies with both.ALicorn sounds the best, honestly, and the whole "it's the unicorn's horn" theory is sillier than the word Pegacorn.Unipeg and Pegacorn just make me think of a 1 legged unicorn and a corn cob with wings.
Lol @ Dyzarktarzk! We are quite a pair!.....maybe an "Ali-corn" is actually a vegetarian crocodile?

It's not a "theory". It's the original meaning of the word alicorn.
