Did you have an imaginary friend while growing up?
« on: July 17, 2012, 05:13:15 PM »
Can't say I ever actually had an imaginary friend, but I used to obsessively pretend I was a certain magical creature. The same one, over and over when I had nobody to play with. She was a princess from a faraway land who had been taken away as a baby and raised under a different family. Sometimes she was a cat (mostly), flying unicorn, or dragon.

I also used to pretend I was "Fred" and refer to myself in 3rd person. ^^; Kind of embarrassing!! lol

So what are your stories?

My imaginary friend's name was Jane. Sometimes I would insist that my mom set a place for her at the table :P She usually came out during games that require two people (board games, card games etc.) and when I was really bored. I was definitely more likely to be playing with my ponies or barbies though - at least they could have two-sided conversations with each other.

He was a brontosaurus named Dino (Dino like short for dinosaur, not like the Flintstones pet). Brontosaurus has always been my favorite. And yes, I realize brontosauruses are not entirely real, but it is cuter that way than as the 2 separate dinosaurs it actually is, so I'm keeping that as my favorite.

I had one, but then I made up that he died in "the war".  Lawl!  I have no idea why.

Oh, tons. Technically an imaginary army. And I don't have much creativity either. Most of them are "imported" out of TV shows.

He's dead :(

(JK! It's a movie about imaginary friends called Drop Dead Fred)

I think I had a teddy imaginary friend.. I might've just entertained myself. Stories in my head were always fun.

Love me some DDF

Anyway, I had imaginary animal friends. Patches was a blind old english sheepdog, Chatsy was my big clydesdale and Thunder was my dragon ^^

I used to pretend when I was on the swing at school that I was flying with Thunder

I'm so happy you did this.  XD

I had an imaginary friend named Mr. Rutabaga.  He lived in the sewer.  I knew he was totally imaginary, but I was able to convince my little sister he was real.  XD

I didn't really do imaginary friends, I did pretend pretty heavily that my favorite toys were alive though. Each one had a name and a whole back story. But as to the imaginary friend I couldn't get over the fact that they weren't really there. So I never fully committed to it lol.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

Yep!  My imaginary friend was a unicorn named Amber  :D  She was white with a brown mane and tail, golden hooves and horn, and she always wore a gold heart-shaped locket around her neck with a picture of her home land.  We were great buddies until I went to middle school and got teased too much.  :(

Here's an old (and disproportionate!) drawing of her

My sister and I had magical ponies from another dimension that we would pretend to ride around and have adventures. My mom thought it was awesome. Haha. They had back stories too which now escape me. Lol.

I never had one, not that I remember, But my youngest sister had one called "grandfather" our real grandfather died before she was born, So not sure where he came from. But she would get so cross at dad for sittin on him, usually in church and if we walked out of church without him she would cry an wed have to go back an get him, and we often drove off without him she would cry till we went back to pick him up, lol.
My 2 boys also had/have friends, My eldest had Corlilve he lives in the airvents he used to come with us every where an if any one farted in the car it was Corlilve. Also at nights he would come out of the airvents and turn the fan on blowing my son out of bed. Funny stories with naughty Corlilve,. Apparently he is still around, in the airvents.
My 2nd son had/has Uncle and Smoko. Smoko is a bady guy, he is the one always making my son do naughty things, he is often in trouble from Smoko. And uncle is a good guy, often he isnt around enough to keep Smoko in line tho.
Kids are hilarious, There are so many funny stories from my kids imaginary friends, I just cant recall at the moment. My youngest daughter is 3, so looking forward to seeing if she has a friend soon.

I had a huge imaginary white horse that I used to 'lead' round. Once a woman came up to my Mum and asked her what sort of accident I'd had as my arm had been in the air for twenty minutes whilst we walked around a shop

I also had a grey, dun and chestnut horse who would gallop next to the car wherever we went, but they never came inside, and an invisible jack russel and invisible wolf. Although I still actually see the wolf so I think he is my real spirit guide rather than something I made up!
