POTD 7/9/2012 Majesty

Speaking of her symbols, they sometimes get described as or drawn as flowers, but I don't think they're meant to be flowers at all.  I'm almost positive it's a pattern sometimes seen on coat-of-arms / heraldry elements.

That's an interesting theory. I always thought there were flowers since I first saw her, lol.

But you may actually be right: what you said makes a lot of sense, considering that Majesty was originally concieved as a leader figure for the ponies. I also read somewhere that she was supposed to have a big part in "Rescue at Midnight Castle", where she was to be the aforementioned leader of the ponies, but her character was scrapped and she was replaced by Megan.

Are there nirvana versions of her???

There are two nirvana versions of her, from what I understand, both released in Italy. The first one was released with the Dream Castle playset like the original. What's different about this Majesty is that she has Twilight's symbol design but it's blue. Also, what's interesting is that Italian Majesty (at least the first released) was made to be a male pony, named Unicorno.

Second one, I think, was sold like regular ponies. This one is quite similar to the first Italian release, only that she's in Moondancer's pose.

And I guess that's it.

I adore Majesty! I did a little doodle of her once, and I liked it lots so she became my Avatar 

I personally prefer what I think is the mail order version (the one without the receding hairline).  However, whilst we are all theorizing on that hairline and regality, I believe in Art History (Van Eyk era - please correct me if I'm wrong!) a high hairline was a sign of high birth, so you'll find lots of noble ladies in those paintings with what looks like very big foreheads!

Maybe receding hairline Majesty is just making a point that she's very special

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE Majesty topics. Majesty is one of my favouriestestetsestestttt ponies.

I do think she was originally designed to have blossoms for symbols, but somewhere down the production line, Hasbro decided to modify it to look more regal. All the storybook drawings and the prototype in the advertisement all show her with rounded blossom symbols.

And with the receding hairline, I recall something similar to what Marlin said - during the Renaissance, people with high foreheads were believed to be more scholarly / intellectual, because their minds were 'larger'. It'd be interesting if that was taken into consideration when Hasbro designed Majesty.
