New Sailor Moon Anime announced for 2013!!!!

Sooooooo excited for this!  Sailor Moon was my first anime <3!!!

COOL!  I can't freaking wait to see this!  If/when the English dub comes, though, I do hope they won't completely screw it up like they did with the old series.  (still grinds teeth over the name changes) 

Naoko was super upset with the SM English dub and all the changes/edits it made, right? I hope she doesn't stop this new series from being licensed in the English-speaking regions due to her bad past experiences. :x  Not to mention the fact that the original SM anime is having a helluva time even being re-released in English-speaking regions at all....

I don't think the content will be a problem in this day and age.  If it is aired on TV it might get edited but I suspect an unedited version would be available. 

Funimation seems to have been mulling over a re-dub of the original for years being a familiar question on their surveys.  I'm not sure who currently owns the rights, it's possible they do.  Dic and ADV lost their rights for it long ago and Geneon is not around (and Funimation owns a lot of their previous licenses).

I'm really surprised this hasn't been posted here at all since it was announced the first week of July. (I did look through the first 3 pages and didn't see anything, so sorry if there actually was an original post.)

According to Takeuchi Naoko (the creator of this franchise) herself at Sailor Moon's 20th anniversary event in Japan there will be a new remake of this series that will be aimed more for older fans and will more closely follow the manga. [Source]


I for one cannot wait to hear more about this! I looovvvveeeddd the manga way more than the anime. My only hope is that it will span more than just the first story arc so I will actually get to see Chibiusa, the asteroid senshi, etc. I am also hoping some of the original voice actors make it back.

I'm so excited! I've been a fan of Sailor Moon for ages, and I always liked the manga better. I'm not a big fan of the original anime, so I can't wait to see this!

I grew up with the anime on television though, Sailor Moon was my ultimate hero when I was little, so I never really had the chance to get into the manga...

I'm really pumped about this, I was a huge Sailor Moon fan growing up. I started watching the anime again recently and was very aware that it needed an overhaul, especially when it came to the English dub. I can't wait for the franchise to be relevant to a newer generation, I'm looking forward to the merchandising alone. 

I also enjoyed the manga more than the anime, so I can't wait to see how they go about tackling the storyline this time around. The live action version they made a few years ago was entertaining as well, albeit cheesy.

Also, coinciding with SM's big 20, in Japan they are releasing collectors edition of the manga, and DVDs this Fall, as well as rereleasing certain toys.

I grew up on Sailor Moon! Super excited to hear this!! I've been a happy fan finding merch at Hot Topic and now this news just makes me so much happier. I was actually searching the forum for Sailor Moon as I was wondering if there was a thread in The Dollhouse for Sailor Moon dolls. I didn't find one but I did find this news so YAY!
