hiding phone nubmer on ebay?

Okay, so obviously you have to provide a phone number on ebay in case ebay needs to reach you. But until today, even after using ebay for over 10 years, I didn't realize that my buyers or sellers can see my phone number.

I'm sitting here minding my business when a seller from ebay calls me! Now he was nice, he was updating me about my purchase and a change in shipping method and was at the post office and wanted to let me know right away I guess rather than waiting to e-mail me... Nothing wrong with the seller at all.

Except that some random person has my phone number! I'm just not really comfortable with that. I've poked around a but in my account settings and can't find anywhere to trun that off. Anyone know how I can do that?

NoD try this and see if it works.

1. Go to My Ebay
 2. Account - Site Preferences
 3. Business Seller Preferences - Show - Edit
 
Then you can remove the phone number, email address etc.

If not let me know and I will try and see if there is another way.

I found this but it is to change it????

To change your phone number:
Go to My eBay.

Click the Account tab.

Click the Personal Information link.

Click the Edit link next to Registered name and address.

Click the Change link next to Registration address.

Update your phone number and click the change registration information button.

Review your updated contact information, and then click the submit button.

I wonder if you can put a false one in there??? Because I can not find anything on how to get rid of it.  I even tried deleting my own.

I just use an old phone number that is no longer active.  I could never figure out how to hide it.

I pulled a couple of phone nubmers of a telemarketing number that has been calling my cell phone and put those in instead >.>

I found this while poking around just now. I'm betting that your seller had an option checked that requires a phone number on all bids. Not that this helps, but I figured it may be handy to know..

My account > Site preferences > Shipping preferences > Require phone number for shipping

Mine is unchecked, I bet he went in and checked it.
