western canada pony meet?

i was wondering if anyone in saskatchewan or the other western provinces wanted to do a meet up, maybe camping this summer or even next or even meet at the Calgary Comic Con next april.

theres all these pony conventions going on down east and we get left out :C

I'd be up for one for next year's Calgary Comic Expo!    Budget doesn't allow for it this year unfortunately unless it's hosted at someone's house and it's BYO...  everything.

Meeting up with Western ponyfriends would certainly be lovely! (Aside from my major social anxiety, heh! ) I also can't afford to go anywhere this year though, sigh. *is a partypooper*

I'd be interested. If there was one in Calgary, or Vancouver. (I'm in Victoria) It would be so much fun to see and meet western Canadian people. Calgary would actually work out really well for me. I've got a lot of family in alberta, so it would be a great excuse to see them (and sneak in a pony meet )

This year would be out of the question though as i'm currently a starving student... lol Hopefully next year will work out better

I wonder if I could actually do a Calgary meet maybe not during comic expo weekend but any weekend would work maybe the May longweekend or even Canada Day!  That would be fun since then we could watch fireworks and stuff...although I wonder when the Stampeed is on? (Apparently it starts July 5th)  Just trying to find a time when it's not too touristy so things are cheaper and it's easier to get around. We could do it as a Park meet up Just us girls/pony fans and send the ( husbands Boyfriends etc) off to a movie or something. alot of the girls in the UK and Australia have had park meet-ups more casual and still lots of fun!

Calgary seems to be the best place to do this and next year would probably work the best that way we can figure everything out.

I like the casual meet up, just hang out together at a park (no boys )

I think we should do it july-aug that way itll be more likly to be nice out

lovesbabysquirmy if you needed to stop somewhere on the way you could stop here in Nelson then continue on or do the rational thing and stay further north on the good highway instead of the scenic way through the Kootenays.

I just thought if we didn't have any huge thing competing with our time we could have a casual day at a park and have a lot of fun! We shouldn't say no boys cause there may be a few that want to attend.

I am sure there are lots of places in the middle we could all meet up at.  Lots of national parks!   

How do the Sask. people feel about that - would you be more likely to come to Calgary or keep going on out to BC?

Im not sure how many sask people there are besides me, im cool with going to calgary or even as far as banff/jasper. But driving all the way to bc is close to a two day trip for me.

Going to the mountains would be pretty sweet though, and if anyone has costumes be a neat photo shoot

I just meant for BLS that Nelson is half way between the West coast(Van) and Calgary depending how you travel!  You could stop and visit me then we can continue to Calgary.   LOL It takes us just under 8 hrs to drive to Vancouver and just over 7 hrs to drive to Calgary.

This would be a lot of fun!  I hope a few more would be interested!

*BUMP* because we've had a few new Canadians join the forum and we want them to see this!!! 

If we hold it IN Calgary during the Comic Expo, I think we should pick somewhere that is reasonably close by to the Stampede Expo Centre so that people could walk or take public transit to the Pony Meet.    There are a LOT of places nearby...  would people prefer an urban park like Olympic Plaza or someplace more "outdoorsy" like Edworthy Park?  I'll have to look on a map to see what kinds of places might be best!

And of course... all suggestions will be considered!
