Yup, there are certainly lots of options for you to choose from!  Hopefully you can get in somewhere that interests you!

Throughout college:  I worked in insurance and spent every other weekend as an activity aide in a nursing home
After college:  I worked at an aerospace company as a Business & Planning Analyst/Overhead Budgeter for (primarily) Engineering and Operations & Supplier Management...then rotated to a Contracts & Pricing Administrator position for a few fighter planes - worked in this field for about 3 years....  THen I quit and...
---Became a high school business teacher!  I teach Consumer Education, Keyboarding, Computer Concepts, Business Publications, and Business & Technical Concepts.  I also am the yearbook advisor/sponsor.  It keeps me busy!  Eek.

Right now, I work for my mom, tutoring my younger brothers.  We were all homeschooled and the boys have special learning challenges, so I do therapy with them to help them out.  The aren't....really bad....how to put this nicely....the don't have severe problems, but they are extremely adhd, have texture sensitivity issues, and have severe dyslexia.  They wouldn't make it in the school system, and they love homeschooling, so it's what we do.  =]  I don't always enjoy it (Rex, my younger brother by...7 almost 8 years, is 17 - all teen boy attitude) and Brock is 13 and is beginning to hit those teen years too.  It's not bad though because I can wear pajamas, go barefoot, and just get to supervise and help when needed.  They are doing a lot better, so it's not a huge challenge any more for them.  Mom pays me 500 a month, so I get my fun money and whatnot, but a lot goes to bills since my hubby is working too.

I also work at my church as a secretary (don't get paid yet...I kinda hope that will change since they are giving me an official title....) anyway, it's only one day a week and I enjoy it.  =]

I used to work as a waitress and at the activity center, even did a movie store once.  The waitress really ruined my back and knees though because it was a clubhouse, so there was a lot of set up and tear down to do, and I didn't always lift right.  Now I think it's partially my auto immune disorder that causes the pain and degeneration.  I'm managing to keep it under control now, finally, withjobs that aren't so strenuous.

Right now, I am finishing my MA in Animation. I'm also doing a freelance job for a comic (artworker for posters and covers, inker and colourist for pages when the time comes), but he already paid me months ago for the artwork and I'm still doing it since I have uni work to take care of and I'm not very fast either. I'm really in need of a full-time soon enough, or I'll have to leave the UK for good and return to Portugal, where I would face the lovely unemployment for a few years hahaha so yes, things are not looking pretty here... :(

I am an EBD paraprofessional (teacher's aide) in a middle/high school alternative classroom.
I am an administrative assistant, in a nutshell I process A LOT of a specific type of state form and all the other admin duties that go with that.
I provide in home care for 2 different families of special needs children.
I am a sales person for a company that makes stick built homes.
I am currently working summer school for 5 weeks...

And you too can do this with an Associate Degree in Ethnic Studies...
(I didn't used to work this much! Thanks our governor for all the stuff he's put public employees through in the past year... grumble grumble... I need a vacation, grumble grumble)

I'm working at a hotel to pay the bills, but it's not my background, nor is it something I want to keep doing for any more than a year. Money is more important than being too stubborn to take a job that's not related to your trade.

I'm a Systems Administrator. Though my card says I'm an Asset Integrity Management Support Specialist, my real job is mostly IT related (server maintenance, software deployment, support proxy) with a bit of programming and user training on the side.

I'm a trained office manager but I currently work in McDonalds.
I finished my degree three years ago and have been unable to find a job relating to it since I was made redundant.

My job is the worst job I've ever had and I despise everything about it. I do need it to pay my bills though. That is rather difficult too since In thier infinite wisdom my management have cut my hours from 40 to 20 (if I'm lucky!)

Note to everyone. It truly is the worst place to work in the world ever!

Now I am a mom but before having my child I worked as an international sales assistant in a company specialised in the rental of combine equipment for the rail and road transport. I was in charge of customers for the following countries: France, Spain, Italy, Germany and central European countries. I met them and gave advice to them (which material to choose etc). I worked more than 5 years in this company. Before that I had my master degree in International Business Negotiation in french, english and german languages. It was really interesting but my life now as a Mom is even more interesting!!

Have you thought about doing something you really enjoy doing? I can't stress enough, it is so much easier to go to work if you actually enjoy what you are doing.

I have had a string of random, unskilled jobs when I was younger, I have cleaned, worked in a supermarket (stacking shelves & in the fruit & veg section) delivered pizzas, babysitting, and a few other smaller jobs. I also worked security for 8 years, hated every minute of it.

I have however, finally found my calling, I am studying my Diploma in Childrens Services and plan on continuing on with my Bachelor & Masters in a few years after completion of my Diploma and working in the field for a little while. I am not saying it is for everyone, but, I know I love it. I can't think of anything more rewarding than working with children, teaching them the basics, and planning activities around what they enjoy doing. I also have a focus on working with special needs children, and I mean that in a broad sense, I seem to bond with special needs children even before I realise there is a problem underlying, and this is ideally what I want to do, I know it is going to be challenging, and alot of work, but you get so much reward from them too.

I have a young boy in one of the classes on my field placement at the moment that doesn't speak English as his first language, and understands very little of it, and also has severe Autism - however, I really enjoy being around this child, he just has this aura around him that makes you smile. He is a bundle of energy, and an escape artist as well, and likes to get into anything he should not be into, but I love working with him.

What I am trying to say is find something you enjoy & go from there :) and if you like children or animals, don't listen to anyone that says "never work with children or animals" because they are idiots in my eyes. At least children and animals will let you know exactly where you stand with them, unlike us adults ^^

Note to everyone. It truly is the worst place to work in the world ever!

lol I beg to differ, if you have had your life threatened over a can of coke, come back & see me ;) seriously, I would take Maccas any day over security work. Their conditions are terrible, horrible hours (even sometimes going over the legal hourly limit), often below award wages, and often having to work in all weather conditions with little to no form of protection from the elements and lastly, most places I have worked at you have poor forms of communication (no duress alarm, a radio that doesn't work or your own mobile that may have no reception) so if you get into a spot of trouble or are injured, you may have to either fend for yourself or stay somewhere injured until someone finds you. It's pretty scary stuff to be honest, and I am no wuss.

Also the threat of physical harm and different disease that can be passed on (Hepatitus, HIV etc) is often a real threat. I  have had to wait for test results to come back more than once after being bitten, pee'd on, spat on etc. So glad to be out of that.

Not saying Maccas is great, but I would prefer that over what I have done.

I couldn't help but notice that there are several teachers here and that got me thinking... how cool would it have been if my teachers in school were MLP collectors also? XD They would have gained points in my eyes just because of that back in the days :P

Have you thought about doing something you really enjoy doing? I can't stress enough, it is so much easier to go to work if you actually enjoy what you are doing.

I completely agree with you on that one and this is why this oppertunity given to me has given me alot to think about.
Before I got ill I just took any job to get the money which you kinda need to do. That led to me working as a saleswoman in a jewellry store for 6 years and I hated it. I'm terrible at working with people since I'm very shy. The managers constantly wanted me to be more pushy because they obviously wanted to sell as much as possible. But I can't for my life stand there and try and talk people into buying things I know they don't want and will just waste their hard earned money on >.<

So getting ill was a blessing in disguise, because now I get the oppertunity with this agency to find something I really do enjoy. And there are a few things I felt I could really enjoy working with. Either animals since I love them (however I am allergic, but that can be treated with some shots), I've always loved writing and funilly enough I just love organizing and cleaning :P However, what kinds of jobs there really are in those areas is something I knew less about, which is why this post is very helpfull to me :)

Can't say enough how much I appriciate you all taking your time and sharig your worklife with me to help me along :) It has given me loads of ideas since I now know more about what kinds of jobs there really are out there in the areas I'd feel comfortable with. So thank you all :)

I work for my local council as an access to work support worker, helping two ladies with visual disabilities with their work.  It is surprisingly good fun as long as you get n with the person you are supporting.

The other half of the week I work in reception for social services.  That is ...less fun.

I'm a freelance artist :3

I also work at a retail store. It's not my favorite job, but it helps pay the bills when my freelancing is going slow.
