7053scales is sending me rather weird messages on eBay. I'm*think* it's a case of mistaken identity, either that or they are a complete fruit loop.

The seller has now offered to send me something as an apology if I give her my address. She seems genuine that it was a mistake....kind of in two minds as I REALLY wanted the item that sold, but on the other hand I'll probably end up with a horses head or something.

I'm confused on what the story is.

Basically I saw an item and bid on it last week. I was outbid, so I tried bidding again only to find I had been blocked.
 
I contacted the seller and (politely!) asked why my bids had been blocked, assuming it was a mistake. I received a reply telling me to leave her alone, it wasn't her fault, it was something to do with someone (we'll call them N) and her husband, N was to blame and basically I shouldn't be getting involved etc etc.

I sent an email back saying I hadn't got a clue what she was on about, I really want to bid on this item, she replied that I had been dragged into it by N. I pointed out that if she checked me My eBay page she would see I lived at the opposite end of the country and had never had any dealings with her before, and I really didn't have a clue who her, N or her husband were.

She replied saying she was sorry I had been dragged into it, I replied saying I would be passing on the messages to eBay for my own safety, and she replied she wanted my address so she could send me a similar item.

Confused? I was!

I have heard alot of stories but that one takes the cake Pink.     
I wonder if someone had been harrasing them or something??? Because that is what it sounds like to me.

Did you give her your address?  I mean it sounds weird she asked for it but if you had won the item to begin with she would have it anyways.  Maybe she really is going to send you something for the confusion?

Did you contact ebay though?  I am curious if you did on what they had to say.  They would probably be just as confused

do you clearly know that she knows that you have nothing to do with N? otherwise i wouldn´t give her an adress, please be carefull. ^^

I agree with this. It's not worth giving her your address if she might potentially mail you something harmful. Otherwise, I'd give her a "safe" address like a workplace or a PO box.

I have contacted eBay but the first message I sent they got the wrong end of the stick, for some reason they thought she was emailing me outside of eBay, which they can't do anything about. I did reply saying it was through eBays' messaging system  but they haven't got back to me yet.

I think this woman has a couple of....issues? But she hasn't sent me any more messages. Thankfully.

Yes, do be careful!  I agree with Saply that if you do consider sending an address, pick one that doesn't connect this seller with you directly.  I know you wanted this item, but it's not worth getting pulled into something that could potentially be really harmful.  Definitely strange and a bit scary.  Hope eBay gets back to you soon!

Why are people saying to report her for harassment when the op is the one that contacted her? You can't report someone because you are having a conversation and they are confused on who they are.

I would just part ways with the seller. Why keep communication open with someone who obviously is confused and thought you were someone else.

The whole situation is just bizarre.  I don't know about reporting the seller so much as what's going on in general.  Even if the seller is safe, it sounds like she may be connected with people who aren't.  And that's the worrying bit.  I agree... definitely best to part ways.  Good luck with everything!

It was never my intention to report the situation but I felt I needed to let eBay know about the situation as it really was a very disconcerting message, other people could have found it rather intimidating and if she has done the same to other people then at least eBay would know about it. Also if the situation had become worse then eBay would already have a record
