I want the color SS Frankie! She's my favorite version of Frankie, and I've never understood why her main release was in b&w. What's up with the b&w Frankies? Anyone know? How come none of the others ever get b&w releases?

It's possible I'll agree with you when I see her in person (her 2.0 is one of the dolls I haven't managed to bring home yet - come on, rereleases!), but in addition to her pretty face I also like basic Lala's hair color better than her subsequent releases. It's much more golden than Classroom Lala, for example, and from pictures at least it looks like 2.0 has that more corn-silk colored hair of the latter. 2.0 definitely has the best outfit though, I'm dying for it. (Especially considering most of Lala's outfits are kinda terrible. e_e At the least, really plain. I think DotD and 2.0 are her only fashions I reeeally like, but I love her as a doll and a character.)
By Lala you mean Lagoona, right? Just checking. I haven't really noticed the difference between hair colors at the moment. I've been more focused on their face-ups, and I think 2.0 Lagoona's is the prettiest. I love her multicolored eyeshadow. I also like how 2.0 Lagoona's left eyebrow is slightly higher than her right. Gives her a bit of an attitude. The only thing I don't like about her is that "hang 10" hand. Luckily, since I now have three Lagoonas, I can swap hands for some photos and leave it on for others, depending on the circumstances.

I read about someone else whose GB 5 was equally random, half jointed, half elastic. I can't check mine until I debox at the new place, but I expect they'll be similar. It is totally odd, but since my whole collection has whatever joints Mattel happened to feel like giving that edition of that release I'm not that bothered. XD
Yeah that's weird. Ah well. My elastic jointed Frankie seems to be tight enough, so I'm not too fussed by it.

Today when I went to work I swung by the MH section- they had wave 2 of the originals. Frankie, Spectra, Cupid and Lala were there. I have to say Frankies face is sooooo sooooo sweet looking. I wish I had the money to buy her and Spectra. I hope they are there when I get paid next week.

No idea if it'll match CAM Skeleton since I don't own one. I can try to compare it against the shoes but that's it. :C
Would they be mad if you pre-assembled it?

I have a wave 2 Frankie with a broken arm peg that I'm looking to sell nude. Probably not what you want but just thought I'd mention it. Mattel is sending me a Roller Maze Frankie as a replacement.

Also it would appear that no one sells electric heating pads in this country, so is there another alternative to boiled water that I could try? I have a Sweet 1600 Clawd with a crease on his face from his sunglasses that I'd like to get out, and I also want to try doing a head swap on my Cleos, and I understand it's best to heat up their heads first so the little barbed prong thing doesn't break. But I'd prefer not to get their heads wet if I can help it.

It's ok! I'm excited to see how articulate the torso is when it's assembled. Sometimes I wish MH dolls had bendy waists, sigh~~~

It's definitely much stiffer than what the actual torsos are made of. I don't want to know how awful it'll sound when it first has limbs attached. I can only imagine nails on a chalkboard... It'll wear down eventually but..  :drunk:
I wish I had something I could've tried it on but I don't have any CAM sets. ):

The b&w is mostly a nod to the classic movie monsters that the original dolls were based on; Frankenstein, Dracula, The Werewolf, Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Mummy. Frankie is the Barbie/everygirl of the franchise, which is why she's gotten the b&w releases. Ever notice how every line has her in it?

Both b&w releases were also for special events; the first, which was a recolored signature Frankie (with different diary entries) was the exclusive for SDCC. And the SS Frankie was meant to be a fun inexpensive doll to tie in with both the SS special and commemorate a Friday the 13th.
