£80 for a G2 MOC?
« on: June 09, 2012, 04:27:41 AM »
I'm always looking for G2s for sale (not necessarily buying, more like checking prices) and I found G2 copper glow MOC on ebay, but its price is £80!
I'm relatively new to pony collecting and want to learn more about it (values, prices, trading, where to buy and where not etc.), so I need your opinion: Is this really worth the money?

Well, I paid about $35 for my Dart and Dash twins on a Spanish card. I don't know what Copper Glow usually sells for though. She's really pretty!

That auction has been there for weeks. Even for a MOC Copper Glow it's overpriced. To me 60-70$ for that pony would be enough.

I've seen Copper Glow sell MOC for about £60 before, though that was a few months back. I don't think I've seen it sell for £80, though.

Copper Glow is pretty sought after as far as G2s go, so I'm not shocked to see her go for that price MOC.  I paid £52 recently for an MOC Globe Trotter, which is not as sought after as her. (This was a bidding war.)

EDIT: Oh wait, I didn't see that it's a BiN... still, Copper Glow is a beautiful girl, and not very easy to find, so ...

it is a little high for her, but the glow girls are a bit expensive as far as g2s go.

I have removed the link but if anyone wants to find the auction search for MY LITTLE PONY - G2 VERY RARE COPPER GLOW - MOC on ebay.

Yes, that is high but she is really tough to find. However, her going rate, as others have said is $55-65 [dollars not pounds!]

That's more than $80, right? Sounds a little expensive.

Thanks everyone  :)

Partially-on-topic:
Is it just me or ponies on ebay are usually significantly more expensive than in other online shops?
And not to mention shipping costs ...

I take it you mean for new G4 ponies that ebay is more expensive than online retailers - yes I think thats true although part of a lot of it is that the sellers on ebay are buying at retail prices and then have paypal and ebay fees where as online retailers are buying at wholesale and wont have their own fees. Its a balance - when its a "live" in store item then yes most of the time [unless its a country exclusive] you will probably be cheaper buying from retailers; in several months or years when such items are no longer carried by retailers than ebay makes more sense.

Yes, they are. But keep in mind that eBay charges a percentage of the final price, and so does Paypal. It varies on one's account and the type of auction, but they can take away ~15% of the final price in fees. And most sellers refuse to ship without shipping confirmation (extra expense) because otherwise there's no way to prove an item arrived. So those extra costs mean higher prices. Granted, some sellers don't research pony values and put things up for auction at ridiculous prices.
