G4 Big Macintosh

He's not perfect but he's finished.
My first attempt at a G4 boy, I like how he's turned out.

I learned a lot from making him, the main thing being BUY BETTER CLAY.

He is made from a G4 Applejack bait. - His head still turns.
He's been fully painted in Citadel Acyrlics and sealed with Mod Podge.
His harness is fixed in place and cannot be removed, that, his face and hooves have been sclupted with DAS clay.
He's been rehaired with Mango Tango nylon hair.

Should have just made the body out of clay from scratch. Head's the wrong shape and he doesn't have nearly enough bulk. Simply put, he needs to be bigger.

First things first.
I DO NOT SCULPT!
There is no way I'd have made him from scratch.

Plus this is a more common way of making male G4's. You modify an existing pony.
You're so quick to pass judgement on someone first attempt at something new, lets see you do any better!

Rainbowjuice, you are right, there are very few people who sculpt their own ponies from scratch. Even if we could, it's more fun to play with the plastic. I think just about everyone would be proud to own guy.


You should be proud I'm sorry you got such a negative comment. If it makes any difference, I respectfully disagree with Zelda. Good work! And great choice on hair color!

I actually think that modifying a base pony is perfectly fine. On a personal basis, I would prefer that as it seems more like a 'custom' to me, despite how good some sculptures can be.
I would rather have a pony that, underneath, is still an original Hasbro one, with an artist's own personal spin on it.

And, with absolutely no offence intended, but it is rather rich to leave such a rude comment on someone's work when you are clearly a novice yourself - definitely not the right way to get started, nobody likes someone who just shouts from the gutters as it were.
Every artist appreciates CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, but what you said was simply uncalled for and had no help in it whatsoever as you suggested a completely different technique and didn't actually add anything to the custom in the beginning - which is nowhere near as "bad" as you are trying to make out.

Please think before you speak next time.
