I've been out all day! Yay! :D

The only thing I've had today so far is water. I know not eating is really bad, but dinner will be soon anyway. The thread just inspired me so I bolted out the door as soon as I woke up (almost literally).

I walked from 11-12, then sat in the park for 45 min. Walked again until around 3, sat in the park again, went home 'cause my legs were aching.

The worst thing tonight will be avoiding sweets. There are chocolate bars all over the house. o_o (one of those school donation drive things)

I feel like I'm off to a good start today. I've stayed away from the snacking while working through my class work and had small, nice sized portions for breakfast and lunch, and I managed to ignore the soda and drank water. Going to be heading out for my evening walk here in an hour or so, once it starts to cool off a bit.

Ok! Off and  . . . still sitting on the couch. But, I did have fruit for breakfast, and will probably have a lovely big salad for lunch. Still have to decide about dinner, but we may be at my Mom's. I have also been dancing and roughousing with my little girl, so that counts as some activity, and it's still relatively early in the day. I accept ahead of time that I'm never going to keep up with all these posts, but I want everyone to know that I am sending us all Love and encouragement happy vibes, 'cause taking care of our wonderful selves is the best thing we can do.

SurfStar, thanks again for running this. Your commitment and dedication to supporting and encouraging us all is so amazing and wonderful and just what I needed. You are a blessing and I am grateful.

I would definitely count that as activity. When I visit with my god-daughter, I always feel like I got a work out (usually my arms and legs are sore the next day too)

Surfstar, I second what LEighAnn said about you being such a blessing. Thank you again.

Do we post on this thread weekly (or more often)? I think I may do weekly, just because this thread is huge!! And we just started today!

Weekly is perfectly fine =) Checking in isn't a requirement =)

Post Merge: June 16, 2012, 04:46:39 PM

Salli, you just need to post regularly. If weekly is what works for you, then weekly it shall be. :) I look forward to seeing your progress!

Happy Healthy Habits Day, everyone! I'm starting my day off right with ... a soda. Oh, wait. I am only allowing myself one soda a day, though. Ha ha ha! Haven't eaten yet and we have errands to run today, so all the walking will be nice. We're going downtown for a stroll!

I hope all of you are kicking off with some great healthy habits! Have a lovely weekend!

That sounds like fun! We went down to Austin and went to a couple of comic shops for Free RPG day, then browsed around an awesome shopping center there too. Also did lunch at one of my favorite tea houses.

I hope that you have as much fun as I did!

Thank you so much for your kindness and support <3

My dietician and I have worked out a system using multiples of 3 (which allows me to be obsessive in a positive way!). Supplements are to be taken at 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 9pm, with 200ml of cereal at 6pm. I tick them off on a sheet which my specialist made for me.

Today I've earned my 2 points, as I went out for a long walk and I've also managed one supplement, plus I'll have my other one later. Off to get my cereal now!

:cheer: Yay! I'm so glad they are working with you. I know you can do this =)

:cheer: Well done Brightside!

OK I'm confused as to how the points work...can someone give me a simple explanation please? <--- My name for today shall be Stoopido....

There is no such thing as a dumb question, Brightside had it spot on. 1 point for food related, 1 point for activity related. Alternatively, if you're only doing food based (as Brightside said) 2 points for food.

As a note, you can count .5 of a point as well Give yourself credit for trying even if you weren't 100% on target!

Post Merge: June 16, 2012, 04:50:59 PM

^ We can get up to 2 points daily. You get a point for sticking to your exercise goal and a point for sticking to food goals. Although I'm assuming from the way it's worded, if you are successful twice with food you still get your 2 points? Not sure on that.

And we earn extra points with weekly challenges.

Thank you, Pinkamena. :]

Spot on! =) If you're successful with your food goals, then count it this way 1 point for the morning and 1 point for the evening.

Finally sent my pm to you!

Wonderful! I'm actually having a lot of fun zooming through WW recipes and using the little calculator. I'm really bad at tracking calories properly, but I was hoping I could stick better with this. I did weight watchers for a long time years ago, and I kept it off well. I kinda hit a stressful rough patch though and went back to my old habits. They just seem to have a good balance of exercise and eating what you like in moderation. Oh, I might have worded it badly but I'm really bad about eating lots of carbs with pasta or meats ect without a lot of variety. Also with my job I don't usually eat much during the day. I come home at night then and like scarf it up as if I'm starving to death. I was hoping by adding more of the veggies and fruits in they would help with my missing food loves.

I'm off to a slow start today being lazy. I'm sticking within my point range, but I need to make sure and exercise before the day is over.

GO PONIES GO! I will cheer for everyone.  :cheer:

That's why I like the WW points too. The fact that a good portion of fruits and veggies are 0 point foods definitely tempts me to eat more of them!

I'll have to take pictures of my 'recipe' book so you guys can see it, that's the only way I manage to not overload on certain types of dishes. Sometimes cooking can be such a pain XD

Started the day off wonderful! Though lunch we did father's day lunch early... and I was like eh hot turkey sandwich sure... huge plate of mostly gravy and some turkey gets served to me. EWWWWW so my calorie count is off due to it being a family diner had to estimate with the counter.. I skirted the gravy and ate the turkey. Dinner is def going to be spinach salad tonight! Once my food settles I'm going to play some wii fit to feel better after ugh..gravy.

After having that happen to me a couple of times I now ask for all sauces/gravy on the side. I prefer to not drown my food usually, and I eat less of that sort of stuff. Sometimes we go out to Olive Garden and usually I get their Chicken Alfredo, I eat about 1/4 of the noodles and chicken, but always ask for the alfredo on the side (that's where most of the calories are!) - they've always been awesome about it.

Spinach salad sounds lovely though. It's one of my favorite raw veggies (I'm not as fond of it cooked though).

Well day one is looking good for me thus far. I exercised for an hour on my stationary bike on a "3" setting.
Breakfast was oatmeal and a peach
Lunch is spinach and couscous with some veggies
Dinner is supposed to be shrimp and BBQ and fruit with friends. I'm not a big fan of sauce so BBQ is fine for me.

That sounds awesome! :cheer:
I love couscous it's such a versatile grain. I hope your dinner is totally delicious!

i started the day off late today but i worked alot last night first our power went out so it  was too hot to stay inside then when i went out a sandstorm started and broke one of our trees in half we had to work for 2 hours to get the tree out of the road and cut up at least it was exercise ":)

Oh that is definitely exercise and lots of it! Yeah, I'd have to sleep outside if the power went out here.. or sleep on an ice-bag.

I am confused about the points. I keep reading the first post but unless I am missing something it doesn't say how the points work? I know how we can EARN points, but exactly how many are we trying to get? At first I thought they were going to be redeemed at the end for the prizes, but if stuff is being purchased throughout the months and everyone gets something, I don't see how that could work. Where do the points come into play?

Your day sounds like it went awesome :cheer:

The points are just a way for me (and you) to keep track of how well you're doing. This way over the week, you can look back and see what might need to be adjusted; for example say I was consistently not meeting my food goal. Then I would want to go back and re-evaluate my plan. Your plan should help you reach your goals, ultimately, but should also be something that you're able to build onto over time.

And they may or may not contribute to anything else. I wanted this to be less of a competition with each other and more of a way of using it to help ourselves measure our progress and as a way to see where we might be struggling.

Post Merge: June 16, 2012, 05:07:06 PM

I did a good workout with the Wii this morning and then I am just about to go out for a walk with dad.

I've also been keeping up with watching the food portions today and only drank one pop. :p
I think tonight I am going to search for simple at home recipes I can make and write them down on index cards. That way when I get hungry and my mind blanks out of good things to eat I can also look at the cards instead of just grabbing the first thing I see in the fridge.

:cheer: That sounds awesome.

I've been out! Walky walky walky. My poor stinky feet. Need new shoes.
Eaten good and sensibly too!

I now have an even more important reason to do this/get myself as healthy as I can.

I've offered to be a living kidney donor to my aunt.

:cheer: and  That is amazing and very awesome of you! =)

Haha!  Surfstar...yes you were first...that makes me second! BUAHAHAHA.

Ahem.  OK I go to bed late and get up late...I have a weird schedule.  So I just got up a couple of hours ago.  Gonna have either an egg, or a cup of cereal and a cup of milk for breakfast.  C:

As long as your schedule works for you that's totally what counts! 100%

Mmm. One of my favorite 'sweet' treats in the evening is to take about 1/2 teaspoon of honey (sometimes I use a whole teaspoon) then take some fruit and either dip the fruit in the honey or drizzle the honey over the fruit. I've also done this with chocolate - take about 1 tablespoon of chocolate (2 kisses for me), melt it in the microwave and drizzle it over fruit. You can slowly stop adding the chocolate or honey too, since one of your goals is to replace 'sweets' with fruit.

Well today hasn't been my best day, but considering I didn't eat much nor did I snack so I don't feel bad about what I ate :) It's hard to be picky about what you eat if you're been moving stuff out of your dorm for 2 hours. Lol And I will be playing DDR for 1+ hour on Difficult tonight to work off any extra calories I might have consumed over my 1600 limit :) It's so hard to keep up with this thread! Lol I will send you my list soon, SurfStar! I just honestly have no idea what I want.... Lol x'D

I wouldn't worry about it =) From the sounds of it you've been pretty active since you're moving stuff!

=) No problem, I can understand that 100%!

This was my lunch:

We drove down to Austin for Free RPG Day, so I got to browse around a couple of comic shops in the morning (after heading the the post office first thing!). Then we ate lunch at my favorite tea room - I had the cheese plate, which came with 3 divine cheeses:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

and fruit with a side of rosemary honey. It was delicious! I shared a berry smoothie (no added sugars, subsituted the banana for yogurt) with my husband and we had 3 pots of Jasmine Blossom tea (it's a tea blossom, so it blooms - it's awesome), with no added honey or cream (white tea and sweet enough on it's own!).

Did a taco salad for dinner and will probably do some yoga before bedtime after taking my doggy for a walk.

got my points for today, did a minimum of 30 min of activity and hit my calorie intake :D I'm assuming my lunch was bigger than what the site says... downside to having to guess. Took a walk to the video game shop and traded in some video games! 1.3 miles whoohoo once school starts up again I'll be walking to class every day instead of me commuting since I moved to campus for my last year! no more sitting!!!

Dug out my belly dance video and did the whole hour! I feel great! I know my thighs, shoulders and arms will be sore tomorrow, but it's worth it. I ate good today but am having lasagna for supper, which is kind of bad. I'll be using a little plate though and really eating slow, watching my portion control. So I can happily say I've chalked up one and a half solid points today! And my sis in law is going to do our weekly challenges with me. Yay!
I think at the end of HH4P I'll have to get her something for doing this with me.

I've decided I'll give myself 0.5 of a point for each supplement. Cereal can also substitute in there.

Gosh I'm struggling a lot. I did manage what I said I'd do, but it's not going down well psychologically. Hmm.

Oh gross!  Is that a kind of bleu cheese?  >P >P >P >P

:lmao:  Bleu cheese is disgusting.

That's usually my reaction, that was the sheeps milk cheese though and it tasted kind of herb-y. So I'm not sure if it was a bleu cheese or an added herb. I would have probably enjoyed it more on a Greek/Mediterranean salad.

The sharp Wisconsin one was probably my favorite. The center cheese was my hubby's fave, it was a smooth and very mild cheese.

Besides, I generally at least attempt to try everything at least once XD

That's awesome! Yeah, I'm proud of you for at least 'guessing' about the food though. My Mom started one and refuses to eat anything now unless she know's the exact breakdown of the food. It's silly XD
