Here is the latest offering on our local sales site, and I quote the seller's ad verbatim:
 
"I have TWO my little pony Thistle Whistle ponies up for sale. Both of these girls are the RARE Sunny Scents version (smells like coconut), and are both still brand new in their original package. I am asking $30 per pony."
 
 
Really?  Only $30 apiece?

*sigh*....I understand that not everyone knows ponies and what their value is but please people hit up ebay or some collectors websites before you start setting imaginative prices!

Actually, just yesterday I found Thistle Whistle and Cherry Blossom bundled together for 99 cents at my local thrift store    So much for being ~rare!

The sellers around my area are infamous for asking retail - or a bit more! for items, even if they are loose, don't come with ponies, and missing most of the pieces.  I giggle every single time I see Ponyville plasyets for $40-60.  But that's what they ask!

Eh, at least they're still MIB, and she IS somewhat sought after. That's actually close to reasonable compared to things I've seen...like asking that much or more for a single common pony missing a tail or something.

It's just funny when it's something common anyway, good entertainment. Sometimes I do feel tempted to ask if they have popped a piece of gold inside the pony or something ^^. It's not so funny when they charge an arm and a leg for something you really want.

Actually there was a time when that pony was really sought after...

Maybe the seller saw an ended auction a few years ago for her which ended that high and decided to base their sale on that I dunno.

I went to a flea market today, and I saw a booth full of 80s toys.  This guy had the My Little Ponies behind glass.  Took a look at the price tags... the guy was selling Sundance at $20 and a Whizzer with a CUT forelock for $40... and other things along those lines.
 
So, I ever so politely mention to the gentleman that his items are way above marketprice...  and he's all like, grr, I don't know where you're getting your prices...
 
So I politely mention that I get them from Bluerose's G1 guide and MLPArena. 
 
"Well, I don't know what the hell those are, but anyone can put anything online--if you're trying to convince me to sell them to you for peanuts, you can just eff off."
 
So I politely wish him good luck and a good day.
 
And attempt to not raise my eyebrows into my hairline.

A lot of these high prices on eBay are deliberate inflation by jerk sellers. By the way, the Collectibles Association or whatever they're called should be outlawed, because the only real purpose they serve is to be an excuse for sellers to jack their prices up to even more ridiculous levels.

HAHAHA we are all sitting on pony goldmines!  Imagine all of those silly people using the RAREST ponies for bait!  If they only knew what they were really worth!

I love how everything on the Internet is "RARE" or "BANNED" or "PRACTICALLY UNOBTAINABLE BUT THROUGH MY GRACIOUS OFFERINGS".
What's next?  "Rarity is the rarest; it's in her name, duh!"
