Show me... Feather wings!

Has anyone made wings with actual feathers? Wither craft store feathers or real feathers... I'm looking to do a custom with large feathered wings, and I'd rather use craft store  feathers than clay to keep the weight down on it a bit and to make it look cool.

If someone knows of a tutorial on doing feather wings too, that'd be awesome :3

my plan would be along the sculpted wing tutorial with a very light metal frame to either sew/super glue/ attach to (though my first may be on actual wing base)

those etsy ones are just awesome.


Edit: or feather pad style, probably need wire frame but stretch fabric base over in shape need and glue sew on much like feather pad.

yeah I was kinda thinking along the same lines, and I know glue and feathers are enemies.... I also need to figure out where to get the mesh base that everyone uses for clay wings too, cause I haven't been able to find any mesh.

Ebay? Amazon? I was gifted a giant roll of fine mesh itching to try and havent opened it yet but they originally got amazon (though I am UK based)

I'm sure it's on amazon, I'm just not sure what to look for, cause the last time I tried to buy mesh, it came in a stupid mesh tube -.- so it was so not what I wanted.

The mesh I have to use, is actually screen door aluminum mesh. You can buy a GINORMOUS roll of if for $6 at a hardware store.

ooooo I might have to look into that what kind of wire do you use? like what gauge?

*Goes to check* OK. I haven't completed any wings yet.. Ive been working on a pair that came on a bait pony I bought. It had the mesh like I bought, and wire already.. I think I got this from Puush maybe? But the wire I bought to use on my own after I finish this practice pair is 16 gauge. This is also the same size I use on my fantasy film wings. It is very sturdy. I bought it in the hardware store, in the section they had for hanging picture frames. It isn't as malleable as the copper wire. It is Steel. so it is very sturdy.
