How do you organize your ponies?

Mine are all random. I think it makes things more interesting. I have been thinking about putting sets together though.

right now, mine is a mixed bunch.  I do by pose and family (so Cotton Candy with baby, etc).

I'm feeling like I'm OCD now... Mine are in sets, and in release order, there is a bit of chaos in the center section due to mib, and my uk ponies are at the end, and I have one shelf for play set ponies, and a second with dream castle a few maj's and the first set of princesses with there dragons... G3 however, there a mess! One shelf of unicorns, another of wingers, then the boxed stuff at the back, pv have there own shelf, and the htf or boxed art and fair ponies have a sections too! There's also a whole shelf devoted to the star catcher army..... It's finding room for them all, need a bigger pony room! Lol

I mostly just have my G1s displayed. I try to go by sets like all the SS together and all the Twinkle Eyes together. However I feel to bad about separating the baby ponies so they go next to their mommies.
I'm not sure how I'm going to arrange the G3s when I get around to getting them up on their shelves. I'm either going to try to go by set or maybe by color so the G3 shelf is different from the G1 shelves.
 
At some point this summer when I have a spare week I want to completely redo my pony collection, rearrange the shelves and get everyone out of storage bins. I'm going to have to keep my eye on this thread for some ideas.

Mine are just sort of stuck on the shelves willy-nilly. I like to rearrange them and I mess with them a lot. I do notice all the BBEs are grouped together though. Maybe I'm subconsciously building a zombie-eyed pony army to take over the world.

my g1 ponies are mostly organized by year and set. all the uk exclusives and nirvanas are together. i don't have a lot of the other generations so they are all on one shelf together.

I just picked up 3 wire shelves just like the ones you have hyenacub! Those are sooo awesome for ponies!

My G1 are by year/set, but that's really not working because of space issues so when I move next week I will be displaying them randomly. G3s are totally random and that just seemed to look a lot neater for some reason. G4s only have a relatively shelf unit, so they are in groups of BBs, FS and then the brushables all lined up underneath with playsets

OMG! This sounds like my pony room - by year, by set for US, then same for Euro/UK, and then playsets! So pleased my compulsive organising is not alone!

I only have my G3 winter ponies on display at the moment...the rest are all in storage boxes.  But I just have to say that I LOVE those collections that are organized by color...so pretty!!

By pose and then mixed colors - I try to not position similar ponies together.  For example, posey and SS Posey are on the same shelf but not next to each other.

The one exception to this is my childhood Raincurl who gets a special spot on the top shelf with Megan.

My shelf has become taken over. The top of the shelf has my customs and fair ponys along with a couple MH dolls and other g3s. The top shelf is all MH dolls. The second has MIB in the back row and G1s in the front organized by set, I don't have many so that keeps it easy. And the last wo shelves are MIB in the back rows and G3s in the front. G3s are organized by color and the way their heads are turned. That's the main shelf. I have a cabinet that is not organized and a shelf in the closet as well as a tub I should take some pictures at some point in time..
