Anyone else miss the pony points program?

I would have loved to have gotten more ponies from it when I was a child with G1s.    I enjoyed it during the G3s.  But I understand why Hasbro might not want to try it out again.

Yes we did indeed have the pony points program in the UK...we just didnt have any where near the great ponies that the US were offered...our points program was more merch with a few ponies thrown in.

I never participated in the UK scheme but I do admit I would love HB to reintroduce some kind of mail order offers!

I was thinking of this yesterday.  I really miss the program.
Back in the G1 days my family couldn't afford much so I didn't get any mail-orders, however I spent my hours going through all the brochures and loved looking at them all.

I was excited when the G3's came out and included a new points program and finally got a few mail-orders but miss it now.

Is there a reason for Hasbro cancelling it?

I wish they would bring it back as well. They could have exclusive ponies for us to buy with points and they could even use some of the ponies that are normally only sold with playsets or as a bonus pony, like Star Swirl, Sweetie Swirl, Skywishes, etc. Or better yet, they could have G1 characters made as G4s. That would be awesome. But I doubt they'd do that. So, yeah, I'd settle with points as being a way to get a hold of playset ponies without having to buy the playsets and the international bonus ponies.

I know when I was a kid, I had several mail orders. I had all the TAF babies and all the pearly babies. I think it would be nice to have an incentive for spending as much as we do on ponies. I'd probably even spend more if they had something like this. I know that was the case with Littlest Pet Shop. I'd buy way more pets that I would have otherwise just to have enough stickers to get the mail order pets. Too bad they quit doing the mail order program.

I think the points thing made it special... you were 'earning' the pony. I think G1 points might have been called Horseshoe Points?

I would love a points program, especially if it's ponies!. I always wanted one as a kid... but it somehow always ended in disappointment for me (signed up but never received anything). I remember wanted some exclusive Lisa Frank items (and Beanie Baby stuff). I would get the pamphlets with all these amazing things I'd save up for, then I'd send away for them but they never came. Finally I just gave up

I agree that it is fun to save up for that "extra special" thing!! ^^

Oh I am clueless on the G3 front! You are probably right...my head just goes "G1" before it goes anywhere else...

@FiddlePhan...I would guess it didnt make them money - it financially it had stacked up it would be something worth continuing for them...I am not certain if there has ever been a confirmation of why it wasnt done towards the end of the line but that seems to make the most sense. Mind you with G4 I am sure if they came up with some show related mail order exclusive, they could shift some serious pony numbers on the shelves as collectors everywhere try to snag enough horseshoe points in order to order them!
