Beheading the jointed baby g1s?
« on: May 01, 2012, 04:18:34 PM »
I've never done this befor but I have one I'd like to replace a tail on due to rust. I have no idea how to go about removing the heads and then replacing them so that they are still jointed lol.

you have to be careful, cause if you break what holds the head to the body together, you will have to glue it back on. i believe you need to cut out the piece to get to the tail. i remember there be a tutorial, but not sure where to find it.

you're welcome. i cant remember if i used it when i customized one of my babies. you have to make sure you put the head on back right. i guess my head wasnt on right. sure it was face the right way, but the way it turned wasnt the same. so im not sure if it the mechanism that has to be put back in correctly or the position the head has to be in when replacing it.

yes you have to make sure you line it up, the way the joint is made does not give a FULL range of motion so if you arnt too careful you might not be able to turn his head the same as before, HOWEVER in my case i was able to just kinda pop the head back on, its VERY easy to take off again, but I'm not planning on selling him and the head stays on fine and works the same as before (only now I am able to turn his head all the way around lol) I might glue it back in eventually but I have not decided if I'm going to replace his main yet.
hes got a funky little mowhawk that I just love xD but now with the new tail, the main is just slightly faded and less "brilliant" in comparison, but Ill think about it for a while lol.

Get the body very warmed up; that will help you get the ball socket joint out of the pony and you can use a spoon to pry at the glued-in plug. The joint is a much harder plastic so it's not likely to soften much from the heat - the main concern is shattering it.

I did this with my baby bubbles. I opted to just toss the mechanism and glue the head back on. I was afraid to much movement would scratch up the fbr
