Spanish Masquerade variants???
« on: April 30, 2012, 10:40:07 PM »
Hey everyone. .
I have just returned from my vacation! Been away for two weeks. During that time a few gals have been to the salon and now they are ready to show their photos.

Firstly I am so happy to have now all three spanish masquerades in my collection. I am just shocked that they are all so different. I bought the masquerade in whizzers pose that was recently up on ebay because she looked oddly very different than the one I had in my collection.

The one on ebay actually has three rows for plugs in her mane instead of two. The third row consists of about 12 plugs of light blue. She is slightly shorter in height and her eye outliner is no where near as heavy as her spanish counterpart. She has blush on her cheeks and her symbols are not as evenly placed either. She is also the darkest yellow body color out of the three ponies.

I then was offered the chance to purchase spanish masquerade in lofty pose from cloud weaver. She is so pretty. But now another major difference is that she seems to have yellow looking eyes instead of the lime green whizzers pose versions have. Is this normal for spanish masquerade in lofty's pose? The blue in her hair is also very different from the blue in the whizzer pose sisters. We know that the front 7 plugs of her mane were rehaired but from what I can tell the rest looks authentic.

So are all spanish ponies created so differently? Why the drastic differences between hair color, eye color, eye liner and rows of plugs? I am attaching photos below for comparison.

The last photo shows my the gals with my boyfriends one year anniversary gift to me. Sorry had to show all the green goodness together :)

Just... WOW. No Ember, that Lofty pose Mascarada's eyes is definitely not the "regular" one, I've never seen those eyes before!!! All the ones I've had in my hands (including childhood one) are more like the Whizzer pose...

Goes to close jaw... lol! I love them all!!!

so pretty and the ring is nice too ;) :P

i think spain is perhaps like greece in that the pony may have been hand finished? that is the only thing i can think of that would cause there to be SO many little variantions.

I just uploaded a few photos without flash on the camera and it seems to show off the differences more than when I take the photos with flash.

I think the lofty pose masquerade is like your spanish fizzy angelponies. They both have different colors in their hair. Yours has that different color pink in her hair and this one has an almost purply blue in her hair. And her eyes are yellow instead of dark green. Ill have to donate a photo of her to the gallery.

That would start to make sense as to why even with only a few of some ponies seen they all seem to have something a little different about them...

Ok one more photo. I just wanted to show the difference in the blue color in the mane in the lofty pose versus the blue in the whizzers pose. lofty pose has a purpley medium blue while whizzers pose has light teal blue

I am just curious though. A lot of the twinkle eye ponies from Spain seem to be very routine. I haven't seen many that vary greatly with hair color, eyeliner thickness etc.. but there are a noticable handful for sure.
So question is why are some completely inconsistant with that routine. Some of the eye liner on ponies like galaxy and fizzy and even some masquerades
i have seen look almost factory done.. Then there are others like angelponies fizzy and I think I have seen another sweet stuff as well as my gals that have eyes that don't fit
that mold. Do you think there were a few factories producing? Maybe some had different methods of finishing ponies?

i really don't know :(

i have noticed whenever there is a thread made about the spain TE ponies, something different pops up. i know i have seen spain TE's with different coloured eyes, i am sure it was sweettooth :) i know i have seen two different eye colours. i also seem to recall something to do with whizzer as well.

i have just looked at the nirvana gallery ~ look at the MOC gingerbread she has the poppy out eyes were as the loose gingerbread has more normal eyes!

loose gingerbread with normal eyes

MOC gingerbread with more bug eyes

as for what it means ~ who knows  my only thought could be perhaps there were two waves?
