So I got to do somthing truly amazing today, I live in Florida, not far from St Augustine a very historical and beautiful city. Thurs my best friend Mike realized that the fully functional, sailing replica of the HMS Bounty was going to be in harbor today. She's usually on tour, she won't even be back this way until 2015 so we debated but in the end, both of us being lovers of all things maritime history it really wasn't even a decision. I even woke uwith an awful migraine that was trying to kill me..lol..but I took a pill and drank a energy drink and gritted my teeth through it, the chance to set fot on an actual tall ship like that is so darn difficult. Especially a tall ship that actually sails an isn't simply in dry dock or used as a museum.
She was truly beautiful, plus it was an excuse for me and Mike both to walk around in Pirate Garb all day {you can dothis in St. Augustine without anyone realy looking at you sideways although people will stop and ask for your picture alot...lol} it was well and truly worth it. I have never seen anything so breathtaking, and she has a full and very dedicated crew.
If anyone cares to see some pictures of her LMK and I will put some up here once I up-laod them tomorrow! Also if anyone else here just loves Maritime or Pirate history and wants to talk about it that would be awesome, there is a fantastic Pirate museum in St. Augustine with one of TWO complete Jolly Rogers still in existence but because of the delicate nature of the fabric no pictures allowed, ditto for the whole place but they have actual treasure chests from Thomas Tew and Captain Kidd, as well as several first hand accounts from trials and such and tons and tons of treasure, and alot of props from Hollywood, including my personal favorite Geoffery Rush/Captain Barbossa's Blunderbuss!
