It's a production flaw, having to do with the rotary casting technique used to produce ponies.  In short the mould is spun while vinyl is pumped in and centrifugal force spreads it out.  If the viscosity is too high or the heat sets it too quickly, you get those 'extra drips', just like if you cook your omelette too far before it spreads out evenly in the pan.

One of my sky rocket's legs looks like that too.  Seems like it's not all that uncommon.

hmm, have you seen thesedrops in chocolate bunnies? its the same, it happens, as others said, in production.
they fill the shape with still hot and liquid plastic and a machine turns them around, until the plastic coverseverything inside.
if you want to see that, maybe you can find a chocolate-making video on youtube? i saw it at a chocolate museum in colonge, germany. ^^

I was getting all excited to explain this, but it looks like I was beaten to it! Anyway, yeah, it's pretty normal and a result of how they were made. Your ponies aren't slowly melting!  :silly:

Also, if you notice some sparkle ponies are more opaque than others, try holding them up to the light - in the more opaque ones you will see lots of tiny air bubbles in the plastic. Not sure if this is the same thing as the cloudiness you were referring to?

My Dazzleglow has the same "melted" issue in the legs but I figured it had to do with how the pony was made.  :)

Sorry for the late reply, I had to finish an essay :p

Thanks for all your input everyone, it's a relief to know my ponies aren't melting! The chocolate and omlette examples helped.

They do kind of look like lava lamps/witch balls. That's pretty kewl :]

tootie_tails: I didn't know the G3s came that way, that's really interesting! Maybe there was just less glitter in the plastic mix when the 'glitterless' ponies were made? Like the last in the batch sort of thing? And yeah, I've got some other glitterless G3s (I like oddball ponies) but I just took pics of Flower Garland because their contrast was most striking.
I'm in search of my childhood Princess Serena/ Aquamarine with blue and gold tinsel. Have you seen her? <3
