Oh god. It's even worse when it's the opposite way around, and they begin asking ridiculous questions..

You know I think it goes both ways...some of the conversations I have had with buyers when I am the seller are equally as bizarre and irritating....maybe ebay is like a giant butterfly net for oddities....

One time I had a seller that tried to get me to leave feedback before I actually got the item |D

I just like, "Uh... That's not how feedback works, hun."

...What..? Some of these situations/questions are ridiculous. XD
I mean even if you don't collect them or know ANYTHING about them, you should be able to at least say "She's pink with hearts on her butt" or "The pony has a black mark on her leg that looks like someone wrote on her."
You have used a pen before...right...? You know what they look like when they write, so you should know what a pen mark looks like on an object... Or a marker mark..

Yea if you play dumb then somehow you can maybe not be responsible for problems later..and that is a dumb idea. Wink

I asked a seller a question about condition once and I got this long email back about how I needed to understand these were old toys and that it isn't right to ask about condition for old things.  Why would I expect a toy to be perfect so many years down the road and so on.  I thought to myself...okay there is a weird one born every minute.  I had to explain to her what a collector was. Apparently she has never heard of them. ?? LOL

Most ebay sellers are dumb as rocks.
I get excited when I come across someone who is friendly and actually knows a thing or two about what they're selling.

That has  not been my experience at all, and I' ve dealt with a lot of sellers, not just pony sellers (who, with only one exception--and not a collector--have been wonderful). Guess I've been lucky. You can tell a lot by their descriptions, though, such as whether they know anything about "customer service", use decent grammer, pay attention to detail and know what info is important and simple to give right up front.. I like the idea someome memtioned earlier if you're buying from a new to you seller or foreign, to contct them first to see how responsive they are. No guarantees, i guess, but...

How much you want to bet the "extra pony" is a McDonalds pony, or a fakie?
If they're unwilling to show/describe the pony, I would suspect something less than desirable...

I think so too.
