Here are a couple links for you that have been discussed recently with similiar problems.  There is some good advice in both of them  :)

First good win...second evil ciggy smell...third (((pony hugs)))) for your little disappointment!

The seller really should have mentioned the smell or that they were coming from a smoking household...the problem is so many people who live around cigs dont seem to notice the smell which becomes ingrained in so many of the things around them

You need cat litter and baking soda...the latter is the best I have found as cat litter absorbs but baking soda actually neutralises. Put baking soda in a dish, then either stand the pony beside or in the baking soda [if the latter then make sure to put a piece of kitchen towel between pony and the soda]...put pony and dish inside a sealed tupperware and seal to make sure no air in or out...leave the baking soda to neutralise the smell...you ll need to do this several times depending on how smelly the ponies are! After the scent goes I always pop a tumble dryer sheet inside or in the tupperware after removing baking soda to finish off and give the pony a more attractive scent!

I leave them for 5 days at a time....if you need to do this once, twice, three times [!!] is going to depend on how smelly they are...also make sure to refresh the baking soda each time [I dont know if that makes a massive difference but I "feel" as though it does]!!!

I forgot to mention that if I do need to do multiple "de-smells" I leave the ponies out in the fresh air for a couple of days between their leaving the "tupperware air lock" and re entering....

Great thanks!!!

Is baking soda the same as baking powder or bicarbonate of soda or is it something else altogether?

I messaged the seller she was really apologetic but nothing she can do about it I guess so I'm just going to clean them up! They're so pretty but it set my asthma off so I'm sad about them right now!

Not baking powder...baking soda is also called bicarbonate of soda - in the baking aisle at Tesco or Asda!

It really is inexcusable to not inform buyers of horribly musty/smokey toys.  :(   Hope you have great success in fixing up your ponies.
