cosplay brag!
« on: April 14, 2012, 03:41:43 PM »
I just finished a new costume-- Yojimbo from FFX, worn by my boyfriend.

Photo here!

I'm very proud of it. My friends and I put together a group of all 8 aeons (well, Anima and the Magus Sisters were puppets) plus me as Yuna. It was a very difficult group to pull together, and unfortunately we had some technical difficulties that limited how long we were able to all wear the costumes, but we have BIG plans for next year and I am so excited for the opportunity to fix things up and the prospect of how great the group will be after we all make our improvements.

It was, but SO worth it! I can only imagine what my friend who made Bahamut went through, though!

Wow, that is awesome! The detail in it is really good! You also said you are apart of a group cosplaying the aeons? I'd love to see pictures of them too if you have them.

Sadly we did not get very many good pics of the whole group. The best one I've found is when our Ixion was resting (she overheated in the costume really quickly). Also the Magus sisters puppet and Anima puppet are small so they're kind of hard to see. Here it is on my tumblr: http://gale583.tumblr.com/post/20753053838/jugglesgeese-this-was-my-weekend-what-katy#notes

Holy Bahamut in the background! That's snazzy! Your Yojimbo work looks smashing, too. ♥

That's awesome!  What did you use for the mask?

That's awesome!  What did you use for the mask?

The mask, as well as all the "armor" pieces and the hat, are made of wonderflex, a popular crafting material in the cosplay community. It is essentially plastic sheeting that becomes malleable when heated, but is very durable once it sets. Because the wonderflex is heated to such high temperatures you cannot safely mold it directly to your body, so I made a plaster mold of my boyfriend's face and used that to help shape the mask.

Cool, thanks!  I have a couple of ideas of costumes that I've been wanting to make for Starfest but wasn't sure how to go about it.
