Pony Money :)
« on: April 10, 2012, 05:16:36 AM »
After getting back into collecting and spending way way too much money I was just wondering whether anybody has a pony budget each month or whether it's a case of anything goes. I was thinking maybe I should use my Ebay money from selling non MLP things to buy ponies. Don't want to get too carried away as I'm trying to save for a house :) Just keep watching ponies sky rocket in price particularly on Ebay so want to keep my pony spending realistic so I can buy my own place :)

I sell stuff on ebay to raise pony money and have a set amount per month to do with as I please in my general budget, so it just depends what else is going on as to how much of that set amount gets spent on ponies, such as if I have a night out with friends I'll pay for that out of the budget too. Currently I'm thinking I need to start my Ponycon savings so some of the budget will get put away for that. I think I need to stay away from ebay for buying :P

If you're looking to purchase a home I would hold off on the pony buying and continue to save up.
It's nice to own your own home, and it's much more costly than ponies... Good luck!

I usually only spend what's in my paypal account already on ponies and most of that comes from ebay sales. That way, I don't feel bad about my already quite low bank balance.

You won't believe how much money you spend on a house once you buy it also- I cut off my pony budget completely(well, aside from a few t-shirts) for about 6 months while we're updating the house.  I'm planning on spending a bit of my tax return on new pony gifts for myself.

I don't have a pony fund I have a doll fund now. But I usually spend the money from selling things. Either dolls or ponies. I try not to go over it either.

Yes I'm in two minds. One, thinks it's daft to start recollecting right now. However, I do worry that once I have a house I may then splurge on ponies when I can't afford to so it may be better to buy a couple of cheap ones a month to clean up or whatever say setting myself a budget of £10-20. I don't collect Nirvana's or anything expensive anyway. Hmmm time to do some thinking, don't really want to give up my recollected collection but houses are deathly expensive :(

I don't have a budget just for ponies, but if I'm under my monthly budget, and have like $20 to burn, it's so going to ponies.

Also, if I have a fast food craving, rather than spending $5-10 bucks on a meal at Arby's or wherever, I instead spend it on ponies. After that I'm too self conscious to about spending money to spend it on food. I get a pony, and I don't cram my gullet full of crummy food!

That is a most excellent plan...  It could SO backfire though... ;)

If I sell stuff during the month, then the money in paypal can go towards ponies (unless I need it for bills.)  Otherwise, I'm allowed to buy 1 new pony a month and whatever I find at thrift stores since they often get sold anyhow.  :)

Oh gosh, that sounds a bit familiar..  :blush: I'm going to have to cut down on my pony buying, because at the moment I need money for other things like transport and socialising.. I think I'll have to limit myself to a couple of ponies per month (unless I start eBay sales again).

It's a hard world :/ I was going to say that I had been good these last weeks and only bought like 2-4 but when I think about it it's more like 10-15  ^^;
