Cleaning advice, please! (Updated!)
« on: April 03, 2012, 02:58:26 PM »
I'm starting on my very first serious pony cleaning; I have a Baby Bouncy (I think that's her name, anyway) who I'm going to either customize or restore, and she needs some cleaning.

She's got what I think is pindot mold on her head and body, and some rust and possibly some mold inside her body. What's the best way to try and clean her?

I've never used Oxyclean and probably wouldn't have any use for it outside of cleaning this pony, so I think I'd prefer to avoid getting that; no sense in buying something that I'm never going to use again.

UPDATE: Okay. Thanks to ashes' advice, I've managed to get most of the dirt off her. She does still have some stubborn pindots that aren't coming out, though, and a few larger spots that I'm not sure what they are.

I've only ever used the Oxyclean boiling bath to remove pindot mold.  You could try the magic eraser for it, but I don't think it can get really into the plastic (it's great for surface marks).

Here's a link from our old site for pindot mold (let me know if you can or cannot view it)

I second the oxyclean. I think they sell small amounts, and it's handy to have for pony cleaning. I have a small container that I picked up for just a couple of $$ that has lasted me quite a while.

You could also try really hot water and picking the pin dot mold out with a toothpick....very time consuming but I think it might work.

Thanks for the advice, guys. ^_^

I've managed to get her fairly clean with hot/boiling water and toothbrush scrubbing, but she still has some stubborn pindots that aren't coming out, and a few larger spots that I'm not sure what they are.

If you keep working on it the stubborn dots should eventually come off.

Oh, if you use your fingernail, they should come off a bit easier.
