Breyer horse PC
« on: March 29, 2012, 01:01:20 AM »
I'm wondering if anyone knows what a fair price for a Breyer Brenda Gift Set chestnut appaloosa would be. I looked all over, but I can't find anything but a single active eBay auction, $79 starting bid and $89 BIN with no bids. And I know this is weird, but would having a broken (but re-glued) tail change the price any? I'm trying to replace the Breyer I had as a child, and that was her big noticeable 'flaw' so it'd be cool to get one with that too. Especially if that made it cheaper. xD

I don't have my breyer value book with me but I'm guessing that's just about right for the given economy. A broken tail would greatly deppreciate the value as would broken off ears. However, if you're just after the horse, somebody has it listed as #3095 appaloosa performance horse for $25 on ebay. There's another one for $37 listed as appaloosa roan. You could snag a single horse and if you really want that ugly Breyer doll you could snag her seperately.

I don't follow the prices on that mold much, but it's not a popular mold; so, I don't think any go terribly high.  The most recent Collector's Guide lists it as $28 for the horse and $39 for the complete set (fair - good condition).  A broken tail would definitely lower that even if it was repaired well.  I'll have to take a look at some current slaes lists and to if that seems about right for the current market.

ETA: A quick look found just the horse on MH$P for $20 and another for $18 (search "Performance Horse" and look for the ads selling multiple models/collections).
