This is a superb pony for it being a first! Good job! Are sharpie paint pens safe to use on ponies? I know normal sharpies are a huge horrible no no but I wasn't even aware that such a thing as a paint pen existed. I'd love to know more about this.

Well I'm not an experienced customizer, but I think the paint pens should be okay. I used the ones that contain water-based paint. Also, they were mostly used for detail work on top of other paint. I find them  easier to control than tiny detail brushes, and especially good for dots. They come in fine and extra-fine, so that's a bonus.


I'd be interested to hear if anyone's had a bad experience with how those paint pens fare on ponies in the long-term. To me they just seemed like a novel way to outline and apply paint with a bit more control than a toothpick or tiny brush. I think the problem with Sharpies is usually the ink, and these don't have the same compounds. I hope I'm right!

She turned out awesome! I remember seeing the concept sketches for her, and I'm really excited to see her finished. Even with the hair, it still looks great. The paint job is so even and smooth.

Incredible work!  Everything's so smooth and I love her symbol.  The skull reflection in her eye is pretty awesome, too.
