Do y'all think it would be worth the flak...(G1 on We Love Fine)

So we were getting a little off topic on an earlier thread talking about wanting to see more G1 t-shirts on We Love Fine so I decided to start a new thread.
 
Do you all think it would be worth the flak from the FIM-only crowd to enter a G1 based design into the We Love Fine t-shirt design contest?  I realize the chance of winning is practically zip.  But do you think it would make any impression on the WLF staff that there is a broader mlp fanbase out there?
 
Would it work better if mulitple people entered earlier generation (G1-G3) stuff?
 
The deadline is tomorrow evening so if I entered myself I would have to use something I've already done.

I dont think there is any harm in trying! And I certainly think there will be plenty of support from people on here...I know I am loving some of the retro HB vectors that are turning up in some stores in the UK

I would like to think if it was styled as a retro design then it would fit the style of WLF in some way...but I would guess from the fact they stock more guys than womens designs it might be an indication of their main customer base...and while MLP has some truly awesome guy collectors some new and some who have been about for a lot longer than a lot of us gals, I would hazard that the "majority" of the new FiM fanbase doesnt care too much about G1 so you may get the odd negative comment [hopefully not as many nasty ones as I had in my photobucket though!]

hmmm, I'm not sure. Entering the contest might give you a good "in", or at least bring attention to the design. Honestly, I feel like this community here is a bit more selective about where it spends the money. If we did get some G1 shirt designs would a large number of people actually buy them?

Doesn't hurt to try!  As long as you're mentally prepared for the inevitable stupid comments that will be made.   "G1, it burns, abloobloo," etc.

I've wondered that also and that's a question I should have asked in my original post.  Besides just  wanting to see G1 merchandise, how many people would be willing to buy it?

Sine we love fine is so expensive I have to admit I'd be more reluctant to order a shirt, but I would do it if I liked the design and the pony on it.

It might help if the G1 ponies relate to FIM. Like a picture of the G1 ponies that were used to base the FIM characters on. (Posey/Surprise/Twilight/Firefly/Applejack/Sparkler and maybe G1 Spike)

I'm definitely for G1 on WLF!  There's a ton of G4 stuff on there already, and one measly G1 shirt.

One of my favorite submissions for this contest features the G4 Mane Six with their nearest G1 counterparts. No harm in trying!

Okay, I took all of your advice and just entered my submission.  We'll see what happens!
