My poor pony :(
« on: March 21, 2012, 03:05:56 PM »
Well I got my first order of ponies today, and this poor gal was in the bunch. She's the only one I can't seem to get cleaned up. Someone named 'Sami' decided to mark on her with permanent blue marker. She's a remake of an original, marked 2007 I believe on the bottom of her foot.

See the horrible work they did on her? Poor girl.. her hair is mostly still nice and has all her plugs. She doesn't have tail rust or anything. Her hair might have been trimmed but it looks good. It's just sad that I can't get those ugly markings off her. Not sure what else to do. I've tried nail polish remover, alcohol wipes, and other various house hold cleaners like grease lightning, soap, etc. Not sure what else to do. :(

Try sunfading her. Cover her hair/eyes and as much of her symbol as you can with foil or painter's tape and stick her in a sunny window. Check on her every few days depending on the amount of sunlight just to make sure she's not having any sort of discolouration or anything.

Here you go!

Oh no! :O I hope you figure out a way to get those nasty marker marks off :C
I took a break from the Arena from a couple months due to school and other things in my life. But I'm back now!

Oh dear, marker can be a real problem. That's for sure. Sunfading seems like your best option.

I really hope sunfading will help. I just hate to throw away a pony.. it seems cruel to me. And she's very pretty, like a bubble gum pink. I have her sitting in the window right now where the evening sun is shining. I wonder if she could be made into a custom.. though I'm not an artist myself lol. I just want her to be beautiful again!

Be sure you cover her hair and paint, though. You don't want those to fade as well!

I took her out of the sun until I got the things to cover up her with. I've heard that cooking spray removes permanent marker? is this true? will it damage the pony in any way? any other tricks out there?

So far as anyone has found thus far, *nothing* will remove soaked in ink stains except for sun fading (photodegradation).  That's probably your best shot, or turning her over to a customizer to be reborn as a different pony.

=/ well I guess I'll try sunfading. If she gets damaged in the process, maybe I can find her a good home to someone on here who would find a way to make her absolutely beautiful again.

Sun fading will take it out for sure, but it might take a few months.  I have a Gypsy and a Moondancer that had blue and black permanent marker on them respectively that look minty now.  It took most of the summer for it to be gone completely for me.

Wow, even with Gypsy such a dark body color, sunfading didn't damage her? That's amazing!

Sunfading works. I've had a Bubbles on the front dashboard of my car for a few weeks now. Some kid penned large letters all the way up her leg and now its just hardly visable. I wouldn't ever recommend you throw a pony away. Somebody can do something with it even if they customize it or restore. You wouldn't believe some of the restores people do with ponies who have their legs and ears chewed off. They look almost new again.
